How to deal with aphids on roses in the garden of folk remedies

Aphids are one of the main pests of roses. This insect appears on both indoor plants and on bushes growing in the garden. In order for the roses to be always beautiful and healthy, you need to know how to properly deal with aphids and what preventive measures will help prevent the occurrence of these pests.

Aphid description

Aphids can be defeated if you know the cycle of its development. The main thing is not to miss the period of egg deposition, which is not affected by various infusions, decoctions and chemicals. To preserve the beauty of roses, aphids must be removed immediately after its appearance. One female produces more than 20 thousand new individuals that can hit not only roses, but also other plants.

Aphids spread very quickly and form entire colonies of pests. Parasites suck the juices from the flower, which leads to a weakening and disease of the plant. These little bright midges are carriers of many diseases, which is an additional danger for roses. To get rid of pests there are various methods of control.

At room home rose

With a small defeat room roses, you can use the popular methods of pest control.

Aphids can be eliminated with the help of a soap solution, garlic infusion, tobacco broth, broth of wormwood, broth of yarrow, broth of tomato or potato tops, wood ash.

To destroy aphids with soapy water, you need to take a bar of laundry soap (300 grams) and a bucket of water. To quickly dissolve the soap you need to rub it on a grater. Sprinkle rose need for 2 weeks.

For infusion of garlic, take 1 large head of garlic and 1 liter of water. Garlic in the husk must be crushed in a mortar, then pour water, mix and leave for a day. Spray the plant to eliminate pests.

An effective method is the use of tobacco broth. For him, take cigarettes without a filter or a shag. From cigarettes you need to get tobacco and pour water at a ratio of 1:10. Need to insist 2 days. After the infusion must be boiled for two hours. The resulting concentrate is diluted 1: 1 with water before use.

It is necessary to spray a rose 1 time in 10 days, within a month. The earth in a pot when spraying is covered with cling film or a sheet of paper. When the solution penetrates the soil, it may lead to wilting of the rose.

For decoction of wormwood, you need to take 200 grams of fresh grass or 100 grams of dried wormwood and 1 liter of water. Grass should be boiled in water for 30 minutes. The cooled broth is diluted 1: 1 before use. Spray the rose daily for 10 days.

You can also use a decoction of yarrow. For infusion requires 800 grams of herbs and a bucket of water. The above-ground part of the plant should be collected during the flowering period. Grass needs to be dried, and then pour boiling water and insist for half an hour. After that, you need to add water to the desired volume. Filter the solution, add shredded soap to it and spray the bushes.

For decoction of tomato or potato leaves requires: 200 grams of freshly harvested tops and 1 liter of water. Boil need 20 minutes. Cool the solution to spray the plant, and water the bush.

To destroy the pests on the home rose, you can use the ashes. 30 grams of crushed ash should be scattered around the stem. Then the plant needs to be watered. Cotton wool must be moistened with medical alcohol and the leaves of the plant processed from above and below.

Chemicals should be used indoors with caution, as they can cause allergies. Insecticides and pesticides based on peritrines, fatty acids or vegetable oils are considered safer drugs.

In the garden, you can use a variety of infusions, decoctions and other folk methods listed above.

In case of severe injury, another method can be used instead of spraying. Plants need to be dipped in a container with decoction and infusion, this will allow you to fully process the bush and enhance the effect.

Ammonia allows you to get rid of the pest and feed the rose. The tool consists of a bucket of water and 50 milliliters of ammonia. For the best effect, a quarter of a piece of soap is added to the solution.

Chemicals are used to quickly eliminate pests.

To combat aphids in the garden, you can use chemicals of 3 groups:

  • contact,
  • intestinal,
  • system action.

The drug contact action leads to the death of parasites when a substance hits the surface of their body.

The preparation of intestinal action enters the body of the parasite through the mouth and leads to its poisoning and death.

After use, a systemic chemical is found in plant cells for a month. Such a drug is detrimental to various insects and more dangerous to humans.

How to deal with aphids

Ants are carriers and protectors of aphids. They eat sweet milk excreted by insects. If a lot of ants appeared in the rose garden, you should immediately look under the leaves of the bushes. Sweet discharge, also provoke the appearance of soot fungus (black fungus) and other diseases. With the deformation of young buds and leaves on the rose, the appearance of holes, there is access to other infections. The plant becomes weak and unattractive in appearance.

At the first signs of roses being damaged by aphid, the pest can be rinsed out of the hose with water or mechanically removed insects (by crushing them with fingers). It is necessary to wash off parasites for several days in a row.

There are quite a few methods of getting rid of aphids and each grower can choose it at his own discretion.

Folk methods

When using any infusions and decoctions to enhance the effect, you can add soap. On a bucket of medicine take 30 grams of grated soap.

The effective method is the use of vodka.

Vodka or ethyl alcohol diluted up to 40% can get rid of aphids at the first treatment. 280 milliliters of water should be added to 200 milliliters of alcohol and stirred. Treatment with vodka or a solution of alcohol is made using a spray gun.

Chemical preparations

Chemicals such as Decis, Hostavik, Fufanon, Fas, Cypermethrin, Iskra, Phyto-farm, Kinmiks, Karate, Intavir, Bi-58, Topaz, Aktara, Konfidor, Bankol, Alatar are used to fight tlyu. Many gardeners use them only in extreme cases, as they can destroy beneficial insects.

If the use of chemicals is inevitable, you need to know how to spraying properly.

Spraying of flowers is carried out early in the morning or in late evening hours. At the same time it is possible to prevent damage to plants by chemical burns.

The solution should be evenly distributed throughout the bush, but it should not flow to the ground. It is impossible to use the same chemical all the time, since resistance to the drug appears and the effect of further struggle weakens.

Herbal preparations are more gentle and safe. In the light, these drugs quickly lose their toxicity, it is better to use them in the evening.

Aphids winters in fallen leaves, tree bark, weed grass, and waking up, when the air warms up to +12 degrees, begins to look for food. For the prevention of the appearance of these parasites, all the foliage and leaves in the fall must be collected and burned.

Trees and bushes growing near roses in autumn and spring should be treated with protective solutions. Aphids can be a neighbors aphids, rosy cyclis, which appears when roses are weakened, for this reason, aphids cannot breed.

If the time to frighten away the aphid and prevent its reproduction, the rose garden can be saved. When buying indoor and garden roses, you need to pay attention to their appearance.

When ants appear, their nests should be destroyed, and insects should be removed with a mixture of boric acid and sugar. In the absence of ants, the likelihood of aphids is reduced.

Effective prevention is the use of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. For the solution mix 10 grams of superphosphate, 5 grams of potassium salt, a bucket of water. After two days the solution is ready. After 2 weeks, spraying must be repeated.

For the prevention of the ground and the roots of bushes around watered with a solution of urea: 500 grams of the substance in a bucket of water. This should be done in early spring before bud break. A week later, the ground must be sprayed with blue vitriol: 200 grams per 10 liters of water.

To protect from aphids, fragrant plants can be planted next to the bushes. The best neighbors for roses are: carrots, garlic, parsley, onions, fennel and dill. These plants attract hover flies that feed on aphids. In addition to these flies I like to eat, spiders, earwigs, ladybugs.

You can scare away aphids with the help of:

  • lavender
  • thyme,
  • Dalmatian chamomile,
  • marigolds,
  • calendula

For homemade roses, geranium is the best neighbor.

Competent prevention and protection of roses allows you to admire healthy and beautiful flowers.

In my room rose earlier, aphid appeared very often. A neighbor advised to put a geranium next to the window. I tried a lot of ways to combat aphids, but geranium turned out to be an ideal option for protection against these insects. Now I always have a beautiful and healthy bush.

I have a rather large rose garden and I prefer folk methods to combat aphids. I tried various options, each time when these insects appear, I alternate different infusions and decoctions. Onion infusion with soap was quite effective.

I have a rather large flower garden and in it the roses occupy an honorable place. These beautiful flowers are quite often invaded by aphids. I try to check the leaves and buds, and when insects appear, I use vodka. If I missed, and the parasites began to multiply, one has to resort to drastic measures and use chemicals. For spraying, I used Decis, Alatar and Bankol.

Rosana aphid: general description and harm

Garden roses - one of the favorite fodder plants for rosanized aphids. The same insect damages an apple tree, a pear or a quince, which also belong to the Rosaceae family.

Rose aphid appears on plants in late spring and early summer, when there is an active growing season, and tender young growths grow. It is on them that the colony settles, feeds and multiplies. The beginning is given by the founding female - a wingless light green insect, 3.5 mm long, with black legs and antennae. It has the ability to parthenogenesis - reproduction without a male. In a short time, the founder hatch about 80 larvae.

The first generation larvae after molt give rise to the next generation, therefore reproduction of the aphid colony is a matter of several days. All this time both adult insects and larvae need to eat. The harm from their livelihood becomes noticeable quickly enough. It consists in the following:

  • contamination of shoots and rosebuds with waste products that impede normal photosynthesis,
  • weakening of plants and cessation of growth due to loss of cell sap,
  • infection of plants with serious infectious diseases - jaundice, stem cancer, viral wilting, etc.

If a thriving colony settles on young rose seedlings, it can destroy them.

Causes of aphids on garden roses

By the middle of summer, females of settler appear in one of the generations inside the colony of rosanized aphid. These individuals have wings, and their task is to find a new forage plant. Having found a suitable, winged female gives birth to the generation of polonosok - normal males and females. By the fall, they produce fertilized eggs, from which, after wintering, new founders emerge.

Another way in which the aphids fall on garden roses is ant "pastures". Ants are able to save aphids eggs in winter, as well as transfer pest larvae to suitable plants. Therefore, if there is an anthill near the rose garden, it will be more difficult to get rid of aphids.

Sometimes the appearance of aphids on roses is promoted by some erroneous actions of gardeners:

  1. Poor rose garden care.

  1. Excessive nitrogen fertilization.

Nitrogen is necessary for plants to build new cells and active growth, but its excess makes the tissues soft, overly juicy, and leaky. On such shoots aphid feels particularly good.

  1. Neglect of preventive measures.

The appearance of aphids in the garden is difficult to prevent, but the inclusion of preventive sprays in the plan of agrotechnical measures significantly reduces this risk.

Tip # 1. Too densely planted roses are a factor that increases the risk of spreading aphids. It is necessary to strictly observe the recommended landing patterns.

The limitation of the bees' flight after treating the rosary with chemical insecticides is 2-3 days.

Symptoms of aphids in garden roses

It is quite difficult to detect aphids at the initial stage of colony development. The founders are hiding on the lower sides of the leaf plates and, due to their protective coloring, are made almost invisible.

The presence of aphids is found, as a rule, after the appearance of the first generation of larvae on the following grounds:

  • lack of gloss and dirty scurf on stems and leaves,
  • the appearance on the tops of the troughs of the paddy - sticky sugary aphid secretions,
  • transparent larval skins adhering to leaves and buds.

In later stages, the colony becomes visible to the naked eye. With a massive attack, the aphids of the roses look depressed, the young shoots are deformed and stop growing, the buds do not open and die.

Agrochemistry against rosany aphid

The use of chemical insecticides is the most radical way of dealing with rosan aphids. Analysis of the drug market showed: the least dangerous for the environment, but effective means are the following:

4 g of powder diluted in 5 liters of water and spray the roses.

4 g of powder diluted in 10 liters of water and spray the roses.

2.5 g is dissolved in 1 l of water, after which the volume of the solution is brought to 10 l with thorough stirring. The solution is sprayed with roses.

Ampoule 1 ml diluted in 2 liters of water and spray the roses.

Dilute 1 g of the drug in 10 liters of water and spray the roses.

All the proposed drugs are not toxic for the roses themselves and are safe for humans subject to the norms of consumption and rules for working with chemicals. However, a high degree of insecticidal activity makes them to different degrees dangerous for bees. Therefore, gardeners, owning an apiary, use these drugs with caution.

Tip # 2. In order to do less harm to insect pollinators, it is better to use chemical insecticides on roses, which have not yet bloomed - in the initial phase of budding. On flowering bushes it is better to fight with aphids with less aggressive means.

Folk remedies against pink aphid

With aphids on garden roses it is quite permissible to fight and sparing folk remedies. They are especially effective in the initial stages of a lesion. Among the most effective recipes are the following:

Garlic infusion with soap

Onion Husk Broth

It is possible to fight with aphids by dusting plants with sifted wood ash or tobacco dust. These tools are very effective, but, unfortunately, reduce the decorativeness of rose bushes.

Biological ways of dealing with aphids on roses

High efficiency and at the same time the highest degree of environmental safety is demonstrated by biological methods of pest control of roses.

One of these methods is bringing natural enemies of aphids to the rosary. These include primarily ladybugs, hoverflies, gold-eyed. The larvae of these insects are able to destroy a huge number of aphids. And not only. Golden-eyed larvae are incredibly voracious. They also eat ticks, thrips and other pests.

To attract beneficial insects to the rose garden, special plants should be planted for them. For example, the flies flies most like blooming umbrella - dill, cumin, coriander. Ladybug loves flowers of yellow or orange color, especially preferring wild tansy.

By creating mixborders in a flower garden from roses that are attractive for predatory insects of annuals and herbs, you can forget about aphids for a long time. And so that beneficial insects remain in the garden for many years, they should build special wintering shelters.

Another bioprotection method is the use of organic based insecticides. These include:

The methods of bioprotection used in the complex, show a very high efficiency in the fight against planting on garden roses.

Disinsection greenhouse with aphids

For flower growers who master the greenhouse business or expelling roses for sale in greenhouses, the question of the disinsection of greenhouses is a separate issue.

Aphids and other pests of roses winter in the upper layers of the soil. Usually they are disposed of by digging and steam disinfection using a special steam generator. But since roses are perennial plants, these methods are difficult to apply. Remains of watering the soil with insecticides.

To destroy the larvae and eggs of aphids in the soil of the greenhouse rosary, you can use the drug "Aktara". Judging by the reviews, he copes well with the task. The solution is prepared at the rate of 8 g per 10 l of water. The only problem is that the preparation is toxic for beneficial soil insects.

The resistance of roses to the ate is determined by the durability of the covering tissues. The denser and rougher they are, the less attractive the plant is for pests. From this point of view, varieties with dense leathery leaves are more resistant. These include, for example, rose varieties Karina, Leonardo da Vinci, Schneevitchen, Fairy. But at the same time it is important to remember: resistance is the potential of a plant, which manifests itself only with the proper agricultural technology. Even the most resistant variety can be weakened by improper care, and then it will be damaged by aphids and other pests.

Question number 2. How much time can you get rid of aphids on roses?

It depends on the chosen remedy. Chemical insecticides give almost instant results. Folk and biological products are softer and longer. However, in this matter it is not always advisable to chase speed. Preserving the stability of an ecosystem is much more important than short-term benefits.

Question number 3. Can aphids from roses go to other garden flowers?

If roses are struck with rosano for a while, then other flowers will not be affected. This is a pest with a narrow specialization. But in the greenhouses on the roses can sit greenhouse aphid, which can also damage chrysanthemums, begonias, fuchsias and other types of plants. Methods of dealing with this kind of aphids do not differ from the above.

Question number 4. Are there any safety rules when working with insecticides?

Of course. First, the preparation of working solutions should not take place in a residential area. It is advisable to do it on the street. Secondly, when treating plants with any pesticides, it is necessary to use personal protective equipment - gloves, goggles and a mask. Spraying should not be done in windy weather. If the solutions come into contact with the eyes, the esophagus or the respiratory tract, wash it with plenty of water and seek medical help.

Fighting aphids: what does the enemy look like?

Aphid is a very small pear-shaped creature that appears in large numbers at the tips of pink stems in May and early June. Most of them are light green at this time, so they are almost imperceptible on the stem. The pest can quickly multiply, suddenly appearing out of nowhere - as if a huge army made an invasion of your garden overnight.

Aphids are very clever. By grabbing the plant, it causes the leaves to curl inward to protect themselves from spraying. If you do not fight it, it attacks the delicate young shoots, the emerging leaves and even the sprigs of roses. The pest loves juicy young shoots, therefore we protect, first of all, the shoots of this year. Covered with aphids shoots, look weak, dry, leaves are covered with "rust".

Do you know that ants “care” about aphids?

Ants love the dark sticky substance that aphids release. Therefore, ants will diligently bring insects to your rose bushes and “graze” there. (It is very interesting to observe the work of ants, although you may not want to look too long and start saving your roses).

If you notice ants running up and down the stalks of roses, check for aphids and get rid of both before your flower gardens turn into “pastures”.

Soap - an effective folk remedy

A popular folk remedy is soap or any soap solution. The soap itself does not possess any disinfectant properties, the mechanism of action is as follows:

  1. A soap remedy, like an alkaline solution, penetrates deep into any surface.
  2. Penetrating, alkaline "sticky" soap molecule envelops any small particles, as if separating them from the surface.
  3. The cohesion of particles with the surface decreases, and water easily washes away everything.
  4. How does it work with aphids? The soap washes away the wax film from the insect, it gets a sharp dehydration and dies.

In fact, the proportion is simple, the soap solution should be like for washing. Spray the solution with stems, buds and leaves of a rose. Repeat the treatment every week until the complete disappearance of pests. It is worth noting that with this tool you can sprinkle the plants or simply wipe them with a soapy sponge.

Combating aphids folk remedies: ammonia

Soap is a good tool, but not the only, its main advantage is that it is always at hand. But soap works like any alkaline solution, such as ammonia. Treatment with liquid ammonia has an additional advantage - getting into the soil, the drug acts as a nitrogen fertilizer, contributing to the violent flowering of roses. If you spend time spraying, then let the flowers get the maximum benefit.

The resulting solution is sprayed with leaves, stems and rosebuds. Perfect at the stage of the appearance of buds and blooming roses. We process 1 time in 2 weeks.

The best folk remedy for aphids on roses: ash.

If you want to pamper roses, be sure to select the ash. The alkaline solution of ash is rich in “tasty” microelements, and your rosebush will surely become more beautiful.

IMPORTANT. Do not use the preparation of ammonia and ash in the second half of the summer - they enrich the soil with nitrogen and stimulate the active growth of roses, and it is time for them to prepare for winter.

Soda from aphids on roses.

At the end of the summer you can take to fight soda. This should be food, and not soda ash, which can harm delicate shoots. Why so many processing options? Maybe enough to fight the best one? The pest adapts to your spraying, therefore it is necessary to change the methods. With this solution you can sprinkle plants at the end of summer.

5 herbal infusions for the treatment of rose bushes.

Home remedies from plants with a pronounced aroma are well saved from aphids. When preparing these infusions, do not exceed the dosage, so as not to cause burns of young shoots.

Recipes tinctures (use 2-3 times per season):

  • Tobacco. 0.5-1 glass of tobacco fall asleep in the bottle, and pour boiling water. Insist the solution for 24 hours, then filter through gauze.
  • Pine. 1 kg of pine needles pour 4 liters of boiling water, insist week and filter. Dilute with water before use.
  • Tomato / Potato. Potato tops or tomato finely chopped, to get half a bucket, pour boiling water to the top of the tank, and insist for 24 hours.
  • Pepper. 1 kg of young, or 250-300 g of dry bitter pepper cut into pieces, put in a bucket of water, and insist 24 hours. Before use we dilute in proportions of 10 parts of water to 1 part of tincture.
  • Garlic. 180-200 g of garlic insist in a liter jar of boiling water for 5 days. 2 tbsp. spoons of the resulting solution is mixed with a bucket of water.

For better results, you can add 1 tbsp to herbal tinctures. spoonful of soap shavings.

How to spray roses?

The fact that traditional methods apply natural ingredients does not mean that you should not be careful with them.

Wear a tight long-sleeved shirt and gloves to protect yourself from spikes. At the sprayer set the mode of wide spraying, rather than a narrow jet. Although a strong jet can knock some insects off the plant, you need to wet the pest. On roses, colonies are often collected on the buds and the underside of the leaves, so carefully spray these areas.

Spray the liquid from a distance of 30 cm, starting from the lowest point where you noticed the larvae and move up the rosebush. Apply every 5-7 days until the bushes are clean. The best time to spray is a windless evening, so you will not harm the bees and other beneficial insects.

First, try a home remedy selectively on one branch so that the plant responds well to it.

What is dangerous aphid on roses in the garden

Once in childhood, we put a hand to the plant's escape, and then we pulled off the sticky stretching mass, and it became disgusting and disgusting for us at that moment. But this raged aphid, which is considered one of the most dangerous pests of plants not only in Europe but throughout the world.

Just imagine: one female aphid can bring up to 200 new eggs every month! Modest mathematical calculations showed that if a group of 500 insects (for example, 200 females and 300 males) is added to one plant, then in a month their population will grow 160 times!

Small parasites are able to suck out a large amount of juice from roses in a short period of time. This in turn leads to the fact that shoots, leaves and buds cease to develop, begin to turn yellow, wither and die.

In addition, honeydew contributes to the development of various pathologies, in particular, a continuous mycelium, which minimizes the photosynthesis of plants.

Did you know?In 2013, a massive aphid invasion occurred on one of the pink plantations in Turkey. Then the company lost more than half of its annual income from the production and sale of valuable raw materials - rose oil.

I would also like to note that during active breeding the aphid begins to attack the neighboring plants. However, it carries dangerous viral diseases, including cancer (viral oncology). Experts point out that it is the hemiptera who are the main culprits of the death of a large part of fruit trees.

Mechanical way to get rid of aphids

This method of pest control does not require financial costs, just a little effort and time.

There are two ways to mechanically combat half-winged wings:

  • collecting insects by hand. You must wear protective gloves, collect parasites and crush them. The pests are so defenseless and immobile that there will be no particular problems in their collection,

  • flush away with water. Shoots and leaves of roses must be watered with a hose for several days in a row (the pressure should not be too strong, otherwise there is a risk of damage to the plants). Aphids, which will fall to the ground, will be destroyed by other insects (ladybirds, wasps).

These pests love to eat some animals and other insects. Therefore, if you see a spider, wasp or bird on the roses, then you should not panic and drive them away.

Methods of dealing with aphids

To successfully overcome the pest, use:

  • mechanical methods
  • folk remedies,
  • chemical compositions.

Emaciated Stepanenko: I weighed 108, and now 65. Saw warm at night. Read more here.

Each method is effective, but differs in the way it affects the insect. When choosing a method, it is better to choose one that will have a less negative impact on the plant. At home it is better to use safer methods.

Soda water has a powerful effect. It even easily removes rust, so the destruction of aphids by Coca-Cola is doomed to success.

Coca-Cola should be prepared in this way:

  • 3st is added to the beverage bottle. spoons of detergent
  • everything is thoroughly mixed
  • after the foam settles, the liquid is poured into a container with a spray,
  • the solution is sprayed to rose leaves become wet.

Tip! Coca-Cola can be replaced with a simpler lemonade.

Kerosene Use

Kerosene will help remove aphids:

  • on a bucket of water
  • ml (3 dice, if using a syringe) of kerosene,
  • should be added rubbed soap.

It is required to get a little sticky solution. The shrub is processed with the resulting composition before flowering. A day later, it requires a profuse, washing away traces of the composition, watering.

Important! Kerosene does not like ants that contribute to the breeding of aphids.

Ammonia copes with pests:

  • dissolve 6 tbsp. l of ammonia,
  • in 1 liter of water.

Spraying is done weekly until the plant louse is completely destroyed.

The use of celandine provides an excellent effect. Herb infusion is prepared as follows:

  • 400 g leaves, you can take dry or fresh,
  • pour 1 liter of water
  • day mass infused
  • then it boils for half an hour,
  • the cooled medium is filtered.

Infusion sprinkle the leaves on the rose.

Soap application

Soap solution has proven itself as an effective method. It will take the usual laundry soap:

  • in 1 liter of water
  • dissolve 50 g of solid soap.

Worthnotice! Dark laundry soap more effectively. It does not contain harmful additives, does not harm the roses.

Roses are treated with a solution daily in the evenings. After a couple of weeks, the aphid will completely disappear.

Use soda

The soda solution will remove the aphids and will not harm the roses:

  • in 1 liter of water
  • dissolve 30 g of powder.

Shoots affected by aphids, gently dipped into the solution, hold a quarter of an hour.

Citrus Peel

Peel the citrus peel and pour boiling water. For 1 liter of boiling water you need 300 grams of peel. Infusion should stand for 3 days in a warm, dark place. Further they are sprayed with roses.

The use of vinegar provides a strong effect, but its solution can burn young leaves, delicate buds:

  • 2 tbsp. l vinegar,
  • dissolved in a bucket of water.

You can spray the plants with the solution, water the roses from the watering can.

Tar soap

Not bad to use tar soap. This product will completely scare away ants, destroy pests that feed on the juices of roses.

The solution is done like this:

  • 1 kg of ash poured 0.5 buckets of boiling water,
  • the mixture is brought to a boil, cooled,
  • 30 g of tar soap are added to the solution.

The resulting composition is sprayed with roses.

Iodine application

Iodine will remove the lamb if it is mixed with milk. Prepare the solution using a syringe:

  • in 1 liter of water
  • dissolve half a cup of milk,
  • add 0.5 ml of iodine.

Important! The drug with iodine protects against aphids, prevents the occurrence of fungal diseases.

The sharp smell of garlic deters aphids. When deciding how can you handle rosesgarlic will be a good option.

For cooking means take:

  • 100 g peeled garlic cloves,
  • poured into 3 liters of water
  • the infusion must be kept warm for at least 3 hours,
  • further filter
  • bring the volume of water up to 6 liters.

If a attacked aphid, serum is used undiluted. She needs to water the infected plants. Sometimes a little iodine is added (20 drops per bucket of water) to increase processing efficiency.

Copper sulfate

For aphids will help the connection of copper sulphate with urea. The resulting composition is applied in early spring if the temperature reaches + 5 degrees and lasts for 3-4 days.

  • 350 g of urea,
  • 25 g of vitriol,
  • it all dissolves in 1 liter of water.

How to destroy aphids? Beneficial insects

Unlike the ants that spread pest larvae throughout the garden, ladybugs help fight it. One such insect destroys in nature about 700 aphids. Attract a ladybird to the site tansy, dill or chamomile.

And if you have dandelions on the plot, they will attract gold-eyed, wasps, ground beetles, riders who eat the pest and its larvae.

We install poultry houses for sparrows, tits, kings and so on. The birds feed on these larvae, and also feed their chicks with them.

Toads will save roses from aphids and ants

The presence of toads in the garden is a wonderful method: aphid and ants will simply disappear. Toads love these insects and will hunt them. As long as there are toads in the garden, you can simply forget about fighting the pest.

To attract toads, place a bowl of clean water in the shade under the trees - they need to have a drink. This method is used in the largest rosaries of the world.

Changing methods of control keep insects from resistance to a specific toxin. Alternate all the ways you know how to control pests of roses. If one method is used predominantly, the surviving individuals transfer their qualities to the new generation, creating a more sustainable population.

Usually, after the first aphid invasion in May-June was successfully repulsed, natural predators such as ladybugs, wasps and toads help keep the number of insects in the garden under control.

What do you use folk remedies for aphids? Do you think that all purchased products are more harmful?

Even the best folk remedies can lead to dehydration of the rose leaf surface (they wash off the moisture-retaining waxy bloom from it as well as aphids) and can harm beneficial garden inhabitants, for example, bees. Therefore, treat only those areas where there is aphid, and sometimes it is more efficient to just wash the larvae with a sponge and soap than mindlessly sprinkle the entire rosebush.

Adding an article to a new collection

The fight against aphids on roses can last the entire season and be carried out with alternate success, because getting rid of these insects for good is almost impossible. However, there are methods that can reduce the number of treatments and calmly enjoy the blooming of roses.

Experienced gardeners do not wait for characteristic traces to appear on the leaves, but carry out the first treatment from aphids in the spring, that is, they are beaten in advance. But once, alas, is not enough, depending on the chosen means, you will have to repeat the steps from 3 to 7-9 times.

The first sign of the appearance of aphids is the abundance of ants scurrying along the stalks of the rose.

What is dangerous for roses?

Rose green aphid (it is this species that occupies your spiky plantations) can destroy flowers both by itself and by suffering diseases. If you find even a small colony of aphids on flowers, you shouldn’t pull away with processing - it will not resolve itself. Aphids on roses promises you a lot of problems:

  • twisting and yellowing of the leaves,
  • deformation and drying of buds and flowers,
  • leaf cover sticky powdery,
  • reproduction of black sooty fungus on a mealy plaque, reducing photosynthesis,
  • infection of plants with viral and fungal diseases,
  • death of a weakened plant or of all plants in the rose garden (in particularly advanced cases).

An inexperienced florist, whose rose garden first appeared on aphids, the control measures are unknown and seem rather blurry. It is clear that you need to buy something and somehow process the plants, however, where to start is completely incomprehensible. In fact, everything is simple, and the aphids on roses can be divided into three groups.

Mechanical treatment of rose bushes from aphids

As soon as you notice aphids on your roses, you should start processing. If the insects are still small, you can get by mechanical removal of pests. They do it in two ways - washing it off with a powerful jet of water from a hose or smashing it with gloved hands.

Before proceeding to the mechanical removal of the aphids, tear off and burn the affected (twisted and yellowed) leaves.

It is necessary to wash the aphids off the bushes for several days in a row to get rid of those pests that have just hatched from the eggs. By itself, the aphid, which fell on the ground, is absolutely helpless and quickly becomes the prey of ladybirds, gold-eyed, spiders, wasps and other predatory insects.

If the aphids are still quite small, wear rubber gloves and simply crush the nascent colonies right on the stems and leaves, and then drench the bush with water. Aphid is small and soft, so this process will not give you any discomfort.

Soap solution from aphids

Grate the laundry soap on a grate (you will need 4-5 tbsp of chips), dissolve it in a liter of water and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Treat them plants, repeat it every 2 weeks or after heavy rain.

Take only soap, because flavored toilet, on the contrary, will be an additional bait for aphids and other harmful insects.

Infusion of tobacco dust from aphids

Pour half a glass of tobacco dust with a liter of water and boil the mixture for half an hour. Give it a day to insist, strain, dilute with water twice and add a little (10-20 g) of laundry soap. Spray the mixture with roses every 14-20 days.

The main "shepherds" and aphid breeders are ants, so you have to fight with them, destroying large anthills on your site.

Professional Aphid Preparations

Purchased in-store anti-aphid drugs are distinguished by their effectiveness, speed of action and long-term action. However, not everyone is ready to use "chemistry" on their site. If the aphids on your roses are scarce, get along with folk remedies, but if all the plants are already affected, and the colonies are spreading through the garden at an incredible speed, threatening not only flowers, but also the harvest of fruit and berry crops, go to "heavy artillery."

The most effective (and sold in any garden store, which is also important) preparations for aphids are the following:

  • Aktara,
  • Anticlesch Max,
  • Decis,
  • Inta-Vir,
  • Spark,
  • Calypso Spray,
  • Kinmiks
  • Tanrek,
  • Fitoverm,
  • Florist,
  • Tsvetolux.

They are applied strictly according to the instructions - some are enough to use twice per season, others will have to be applied three times. It is important that, like biological products from aphids, they should be used as soon as you find the first pests, while strictly following the dosage. Remember that preparations for aphids should not fall on the growing nearby edible crops, because in this case you will have to postpone the harvest for 20-30 days.

Aphids on roses are mostly poisonous, therefore, treatment should be done only with the use of protective equipment (in closed clothes, headgear, respirator, gloves and glasses).

Do not assume that the use of insecticides will not affect the roses themselves. Unfortunately, their flowers after treatment will become unsuitable for use in medical and cosmetic purposes, and in rare cases, the smell may change. In addition, aphid breeds new offspring every two weeks, which means it quickly adapts to the active substances used against it. Alternate the drugs (remember, it’s not the names of the drugs that should differ, but their active ingredients!), Do not skip the intermediate treatments with infusions and decoctions based on natural ingredients, knock down aphids by mechanical means and lead the attack on all fronts.

Now that you know how to spray roses from aphids, your garden will become more protected and will delight you with delicate scents and bright colors of a healthy rose garden.
