Raspberries are found on almost any house or cottage. Some difficulty in growing this crop is due to the peculiarities of our climate, mainly in cold winters. The advantage of a remontant raspberry over ordinary varieties is obvious - it bears fruit in the same season, and twice. That is, in the year of planting seedlings. How to choose the best varieties of repair raspberries?
This question can get a variety of answers. And this is understandable, since each has its own criteria for evaluating the remontrant raspberry - the ripening time, the yield, the size of the fruit, and resistance to external factors. The list can be continued further - everyone has different preferences. But if you carefully study the materials posted on the thematic sites, reviews on the forums, it is easy to make a kind of popularity rating varieties among our gardeners.
This name is given to this variety not only because of the color of the berries, but also because of its peculiar taste.
The height of the bushes is small (up to 1.5 m), so their preparation for the period of cold weather using any of the practicing methods is not difficult. The berries are medium in size (3.5 g each), and as they say, “calibrated” is one to one. With one bush of this variety, with proper organization of care, you can collect about 3.5 ± 0.5 kg. One of the features of the culture - the berries are very easily removed from the fruit bed, so almost everyone goes into the business, not rejected. Connoisseurs of various homemade preparations believe that the most delicious jams are obtained from this variety of remontant raspberries.
2. “Bryansk Jubilee”
This variety is recommended to pay attention to those gardeners who do not have much free land. The bushes of the Bryansk jubilee height of 1.3 m are quite compact, moreover, they do not branch much. Consequently, the landing can be organized quite dense, even in a limited segment of the territory.
Sour-sweet, slightly elongated berries of red color are quite large - they weigh about 4 g. For the first time in a season they ripen by mid-summer, and the second collection (2.5 kg from each bush) is made at the end of September. The peculiarity of this remontant variety is its stable yield and good resistance to various infections and pests.
For the middle band - a great choice. Dense large berries (6 g each) are characterized by a sweet-sour taste and juicy flesh. Fruiting occurs in mid-summer and by the end of autumn. Good yield - from 3 to 3.5 kg per bush, which height is not more than 2 m.
This sort of remontant raspberry is distinguished by its increased resistance to diseases and pests.
4. "Indian Summer"
This raspberry - the firstborn among the varieties bred in our country. Judging by the reviews of gardeners, she completely refutes the well-known saying about the first pancake.
One of the distinguishing features - in the height of the bush (up to 2 m). Therefore, cultivation in regions with severe frosts is somewhat complicated by the need for complete shelter of raspberries. Although all practiced technologies are quite accessible for implementation by hand. Anyone interested in this issue will be able to find out more here.
The bushes are rather sprawling, so dense planting of seedlings is not recommended - they, growing, will only interfere with each other. But from each can collect up to 2.5 kg. And the first harvest will be at the beginning of summer, as this variety belongs to the early ripening. The second collection is guaranteed at the end of September, long before the onset of cold weather. The ripened, darkish berries are also somewhat different in taste - they have a pleasant sourness, so the jam made from them is quite original.
5. "Yellow giant"
Berries of this sort of remontant raspberry are highly recommended by specialists of allergy sufferers, immunocompromised women, pregnant women and young mothers. A distinctive feature - the fruits, even ripe, do not fall off, and after harvesting they remain for a long time without loss of taste.
That is why this sort of raspberry is so popular among summer residents, who are on the plots only on short visits. But with shelter for the winter, as for some other varieties of culture, there are difficulties - the bushes are quite high (up to 2.2 m). But this is leveled by their excellent yield (about 5 kg) and large fruit sizes (7.5 g each). And if we consider that such a raspberry jam itself is a good decoration of the territory, it is more than reasonable to cultivate this variety.
This variety belongs to the standard types, that is, has a small stem in the lower part. Consequently, the bush (no more than one and a half meters high) turns out to be erect, and such a raspberry can be planted even in the blown area, without additional fencing. In addition, it is quite convenient to pick berries from it. They are characterized by large size (4 - 4.5 g), dark ruby shade and long-term fresh storage.
On raspberries of this particular variety should pay attention to beginner gardeners. The first reason is that it does not require special care, since it is completely inert to external factors (weather and pests). The second one - “Eurasia” develops excellently on almost any soil, so you don’t have to deal with the increase (decrease) of its acidity, the application of specific fertilizers, and so on. The yield of this remontant variety is not less than 3 kg from a bush (an additional plus).
7. “Golden domes”
Another variety of remontant raspberry, bred by domestic breeders.
Bushes do not differ in height (not more than 1.3 m), but rather sprawling. Productivity is not bad - not less than 3.5 kg. The berries are medium in size (5 g each), with a juicy flesh of sweetish taste (but not cloying). Feature - raspberries almost never damaged by garden pests. It is noticed that they show no interest in this remontant variety. Therefore, preventive treatment work is minimized.
In winter, it is recommended to cut the bushes completely to the ground level, since the stems do not tolerate low temperatures. Accordingly, the raspberry is covered with “top”. If the region has a snowy winter, then one crust is enough. It turns out that in terms of preparing for the cold, this variety has advantages over other remontant varieties.
Feature of the variety - in the almost complete absence of sharp thorns, which distinguishes this raspberry from other berry bushes. The fruits are quite large (up to 5.5 g), sweet, but in moderation. A number of experts consider this repair grade the standard of taste.
This raspberry is good for everyone, but doesn’t like high (heat) or low (frost) temperature values. In terms of resistance to various lesions - some advantages. Neither infections nor garden pests (with the rarest exception) of this variety are not scary. Productivity - within 2.8 kg with a height of bushes up to 1.6 m. The periods of picking berries are mid-summer and late September.
Probably, this is the only one of all remontant varieties that develops equally well in any region.
Raspberries grows to 1.8 m, but the bushes are quite powerful, giving a stable, although not very high (up to 2.6 kg) yield. Sour-sweet berries of medium size (4.5 - 5 g) are distinguished by good “keeping quality”, therefore there are no problems with their delivery over long distances. If you add that raspberries are almost not sick and need minimal care - a good choice for growing in the garden.
10. "Ruby Necklace"
Low bushes (up to 1.4 m) have a good yield (2.5 - 3 kg). The value from the point of view of specialists of this remontant variety is in good transportability. This raspberry can be transported over considerable distances without losing the presentation, so it is grown not only in the suburban areas, but also on an industrial scale.
The berries are quite large (4.5 - 5 g each), with a slight sourness. The first collection is made from the beginning of August, the second - in the middle of October. It doesn’t tolerate frost, so pruning is done to the ground level, and the root system of this repair raspberry is completely covered.
Well, on what sort to stop the choice, it's up to you, the reader. The main thing is to determine the priority characteristics, properties of the remontant raspberry, depending on the region and personal preferences.
Growing conditions and types of raspberries
In Moscow, raspberries have been cultivated since the time of Ancient Russia. The first analogues of the modern nurseries of the plant were laid by Yuri Dolgoruky, drawing attention to the healing properties of the fruit.
Raspberries at this time did not resemble breeding varieties, which were bred as a result of the improvement of species characteristics and crossing with other cultures.
An important condition for the selection of the variety and type of raspberry is the climatic conditions of the planting region, which affect the formation of soil fertility, the ratio of stability and yield.
In the suburbs a temperate continental climate with sufficient moisture, relatively warm summers, moderate frosts in winter, and sufficient snow cover. In general, the conditions for the cultivation of raspberries are favorable for traditional varieties and relatively new with good winter hardiness and cold resistance.
Soils are more fertile in the southern and western directions. This is mainly sod-podzolic, slightly acidic and medium-nutrient soils. The soil of the northern and eastern parts of the Moscow region before planting berry bushes must be structured and fed with organic matter.
Garden raspberry is divided into several types:
When choosing a variety and type of raspberry for planting in the suburbs, it is important to take into account the yield indicators in the region, the time of ripening and the resistance of the plant to a decrease in winter temperature to 30 ° C.
Raspberry varieties differ in taste and size of fruits. Each gardener will be pleased to grow in the garden the most preferred option for the whole family. This review presents promising varieties of berry crops for the Moscow region, with which you can choose a plant for your garden.
Raspberry ready to eat
Considered traditional varieties that are massively cultivated in the 20th century. They were not subjected to complex species change during breeding work, therefore, due to genetic characteristics, they are closest to wild raspberries.
This explains their adaptability to the soil, plasticity to climatic features, winter hardiness and unpretentiousness in care. Traditional raspberry varieties are less fruitful than new plant species, but they have a more pronounced fruit flavor.
Early maturing varieties
The main advantage of raspberry early ripening is the ability to enrich the diet with useful vitamins in early summer, when other berry crops do not bear fruit. Harvest of shrubs of these varieties begin to collect in late June or in the first half of July.
"Meteor". This raspberry variety has high rates of winter hardiness, resistance to viral and fungal diseases. The plant is able to withstand prolonged drought and high temperatures.
The average weight of berries 3-4 g, productivity 1.5-2 kg per bush. The taste of the fruit has a characteristic acidity, so they are mainly used for drying, compote preparations, marshmallow. The average height of the shrub is 1.5 -2 m, the branches are elastic and drooping, requiring garters immediately after planting.
"Scarlet Sails". It is a winter-hardy plant that bears fruit well even after the most severe winter. The variety is resistant to fungal spores, but is often affected by spider mites, possibly mycoplasmal overgrowth - the formation of many weak shoots, instead of one. The shrub is strong, straight, with a height of 1.8 to 2.2 m. The average mass of berries is 2.6 g, the yield from a bush is 1.7 kg.
Young raspberry sprouts
"Cascade". This shrub has good winter hardiness, resistance to diseases of raspberry, but is sensitive to drought. Therefore, when growing shrubs require constant control over the moisture content of the substrate.
Adult plant reaches a height of 2 m, spike shoots weak. The average weight of berries is 3.5 g, the yield is 3 kg. The fruits are fragrant, have a sweet taste and are great for making all kinds of preparations.
The disadvantages of these varieties are early flowering and the possibility of damaging the floral ovary by returning frosts, prolific fructification and low fruit transportability.
Good performance in the suburbs also demonstrate the following varieties: “Sun”, “Early Winter”, “Flame”, “Novokitaevskaya”, “Lazarevskaya”.
Plants with an average maturity
These shrubs come into fruition in the second decade of July. They are characterized by shorter ripening periods, stable yield, which is explained by the relatively late flowering and lower risk of flower buds freezing.
"Balm". This variety is popular with gardeners for the similarity of fruit taste with forest raspberries, absolute unpretentiousness and resistance to climatic cataclysms. This is a straight-growing shrub with an average height of shoots of 1.8 m. Fruits weighing 2.5-3 g, productivity of one bush is 2.2 kg. The plant is resistant to fungal diseases, rarely affected by spider mites. Winter hardiness of the shrub is good, so no additional shelters for the cold period will be required.
"Kirzhach". This is a beautiful bush with straight sprouts reaching a height of 2.5-3 m. A great option for a hedge around the perimeter of the site. Berry weight 2.2-3 g, yield 2-3 kg per bush. Berries have a sweet taste with mild acidity. Advantages - undemanding to the soil, resistance to raspberries mite, antaracnosis.
Medium raspberry variety
Significant disadvantages - excessive formation of sprouts, sensitivity to root cancer, mycoplasma overgrowth. The winter hardiness of the plant is average, so careful preparation for cold and temperature changes in the spring period will be required.
"Kenby." This is a powerful straight-growing shrub whose shoots reach up to 2.5 m in height. A characteristic feature is the presence of thin thorns only at the base of the shoot, which greatly facilitates harvesting and caring for the plant. Fruit weight 2.5-3.5 g, they have a pronounced taste with a mild acidity.
Excellent for all types of culinary preparations, but poorly stored and transported.
The productivity of the bush 2 kg. The bush has good winter hardiness, but there is a weak side - the lack of immunity against viral diseases.
The following varieties are also popular in the Moscow region: “Youth”, “Sokolenok”, “Skromnitsa”, “Sibiryanochka”, “Newburgh”, “Tenderness”.
Raspberry late ripening
The crop of these plants is harvested after July 20 and early August. They are distinguished by stable fruiting and, with complex planting with other varieties, allow for the continuous flow of fresh berries into the diet throughout the season.
"Ruby". A characteristic feature of this variety is the tendency to remontance, which means that young shoots can also enter fruiting. The average plant height is 1.8 m, fruit weight 3.5 g, yield 1.5-2.5 kg.
The berries are sweet with a pronounced aroma, keep their shape well and are suitable for transportation. Winter hardiness varieties average, you will need to prepare for the cold season. The plant is drought-resistant, able to withstand a long period of temperature increase. The shrub is sensitive to viral diseases, but bears fruit well with them.

The average berry weight is 3.5 g, the yield per bush is 2 kg. The shoots of the bush grow up to 2 m. The plant has average winter hardiness, but good resistance to fungal infections and spider mites. The variety is sensitive to raspberry mites and shoots gallitsses.
Experienced gardeners and specialists also recommend raspberry varieties: “Samara dense”, “Peresvet”, “Brigantina”.
Shrubs of this type of raspberry are able to bear fruit on annual and biennial shoots, produce fruits twice during the growing season. At such bushes every spring new shoots grow, on which fruit buds are formed in the same year. After fruiting, the upper part of the shoot dies off, and on the lower in the next season new fruits are formed. Thus, the crop is harvested twice.
The first to enter fruiting are biennial shoots, and a little later one-year.
"Cap Monomakh". A characteristic feature of this variety - the structure of the bush. It looks more like a compact tree, reaching a height of up to 1.5 m with a small number of drooping shoots with numerous branches. Massive, but rare thorns are concentrated in the lower part of the plant, which gives an advantage during care and harvesting.
The first fruiting raspberries occurs in mid-July, the second in the third decade of August and can last until October. The average weight of berries is 7-8 g; yield in the Moscow region is 2-3 kg per bush. Плоды кустарника универсальны, имеют сладкий вкус с легкой кислотностью. У растения средняя морозостойкость (до -25°С) и низкая устойчивость к вирусным болезням. Потребуется основательная подготовка к холодному сезону.

Other varieties of large-fruited raspberries are also suitable for cultivation in the Moscow region: “Arbat”, “Stoleshnik”, “Aborigine”, “Tarusa”, “Scottish”, “Mirage”.
A common disadvantage of large-fruited raspberries is the instability of the L1 gene, as a result of which the fruits become smaller. Also, plants of this species are whimsical to care, soil and climatic conditions.
Therefore, deciding on the cultivation of these varieties in their area, you must be prepared to carefully study the characteristics and agricultural practices of these plants.
While watching the video you will learn about the cultivation of raspberries.
The study of the genetics of raspberry and breeding work on the improvement of species characteristics are ongoing. Therefore, gardeners have the opportunity to constantly increase the amount of the crop and try the fruits with new flavors. To do this, you need to constantly be interested in varietal novelties and choose the best options, based on the care options, soil characteristics of the site and the preferences of all family members.

All gardeners prefer to have delicious and sweet varieties in the raspberries, even if they are not very productive. These include:
- "Apricot". Repair raspberry with a sugar content of more than 11 percent. Berry weight up to 5 grams.
- "Sun". Fruits are sweet, large to 6 gr. Productivity from a bush of 6 kg. The plant is not demanding care.
- Tree raspberry. The maximum fruit weight is 17 grams. Bush height of 200 centimeters. The berries are very sweet and strongly aromatic.
To say which particular grade is the best is simply not possible. Do not be afraid to experiment, selecting the appropriate options for your site.
The golden rule - a great harvest requires regular maintenance.
The best repair raspberry varieties
250 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Remontant dessert variety of Polish selection. Sprawling bush, height 1.6 - 1.8 m, forms a few root shoots, gives up to 10 replacement shoots. The shoots are sturdy, do not bend during fruiting, covered with small, thornless thorns.
The berries are dark red, rounded oblong, with an average weight of 5 - 6 g, sweet taste, with a pronounced bright aroma, are well stored and transported. The yield of one bush with proper care exceeds 4 kg. The berries are not showered, are transported, due to the dry break, they are ideal in freezing.
It shows high resistance to gray rot and spider mite, but is susceptible to measles system cancer. It has a low winter hardiness, but with the full cutting of the shoots, this drawback is not of paramount importance. In arid climate, it manifests itself badly. This remontant raspberry variety received good reviews from gardeners in the Rostov Region and the Moscow Region.
- excellent taste
- high yield
- small spikes
- requires attentive care, does not tolerate drought
- susceptibility to root cancer
The most delicious berry from remontantny. In regions with severe winters, it is better to cut flush with the ground and mulch well.
270 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Repairman raspberry variety for commercial and personal use. By maturity refers to the late. Bush height 1.5 - 1.9 m, slightly sprawling, the formation of overgrown medium. The main shoots are thick with sparse soft thorns; there are no thorns on the fruit sprigs. The garter is made only on windy areas. Also, because of the long side shoots, the garter contributes to better ventilation and illumination of the lower tier.
The berries are of classic red color, cylindrical, elongated, up to 3 - 4 cm long, weighing from 5 - 7 to 11 - 20 g. Average yield - 3 kg per bush. The taste is sweet and sour. Evaluation of taste is good and excellent. The berries are dense, well stored and carry transport.
In order for the bush to realize its potential yield, the lower buds are removed, accelerating the ripening of the upper ones and contributing to the formation of larger berries.
It prefers light fertile soils, on heavy loams the yield is sharply reduced. Winter hardiness is average. In the winter, it is recommended to mow shoots to the ground, since the left stump takes power from the rhizome and reduces winter hardiness. The variety does not perform well in arid regions. Recommended for the Moscow region and Central strip.
- high yield
- few thorns
- moderate root shoots
- susceptibility to disease
- with a lack of lighting, the berries turn sour
This raspberry variety fell in love with late ripening, when there were only apples left in the garden. With good care and proper planting, there are no problems with it.
250 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Remontant variety with orange berries. Bush srednerosly, up to 1,7 m high, compact. The shoots are upright, heavily spiked, fragile and can break off under the weight of the berries. The formation of fruit twigs is active and covers 2/3 of the shoot length. The bush forms up to 7 shoots of substitution and gives a lot of shoots.
The berries are cone-shaped, with a slightly pointed top, dense, aligned, up to 4 cm long and weighing 6 - 12 g. They have a delicate aroma and sweet taste with a slight sourness. The sugar content depends on the soil and climatic conditions of cultivation and the level of agricultural technology. Berries are well transported, when overriding remain on the branches.
The yield from one bush reaches 3 kg, while before frost the variety has time to give 70 - 100% of the potential yield. There is a high resistance to pests and medium - to disease. The dessert taste of berries and good transportability make the variety universal.
The variety showed itself well in the Moscow and Rostov regions, recommended for the Central Belt, the Urals and Western Siberia. When grown in an annual crop (cut into winter for a stump) there is no risk of freezing of shoots.
- high and stable yield
- large berry of great taste
- not crumbling
- many thorns
- brittle shoots need garter
The best sort of repair raspberry for the Moscow region, in my opinion. The berry is tasty and very beautiful, it ripens quickly. If you cut off the immature berries together with the stalk, they ripen perfectly.
450 (for a 2-year sapling in a container)
Remontant grade commercial use. Bush height 1.6 - 1.8 m. The shoots are erect, with stiff spines along the entire length, durable and do not require support. Lateral branching is abundant, shoot formation is weak (up to 3–4 substitution shoots). Variety tolerates thickened planting, does not require frequent thinning.
Ruby berries, in the shape of a truncated cone, dense, weighing from 6 to 10 to 15 g, with a pronounced aroma. The taste is sweet and sour, refreshing, but in cold weather, the acidity is more pronounced. The yield from one bush reaches 4 kg.
It is highly resistant to diseases (including viral) and pests, drought-resistant and winter-resistant. Waterlogging spoils the taste of the berries, makes it watery. With a lack of heat and light during the ripening period, the berries turn out to be sour, they are good in compotes and preserves.
This raspberry variety is well adapted in the Moscow region, the Central belt and the Urals, showing stability and unpretentiousness. In regions with cold rains in the second half of summer, it is impossible to obtain high-quality berry without additional measures.

220 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Remontant grade for small areas. Gardeners appreciate it for great taste. In terms of yield, transportability and size, it loses to other commercial varieties. Most often grown for personal use.
Shrubs are compact, up to 2 m in height, form 5–8 replacement shoots. The shoots are covered with soft and thin spines, on the upper part to a lesser extent. Requires a garter to the trellis.
Bright red cone-shaped berries with a blunt top, glossy, drupes are large, dense, weighing 4 - 6 g. The yield from the bush is 2 - 2.5 kg. Ripe berries are not showered. If berries are harvested regularly, without overriding, the crop is well transported.
This raspberry shows good results in the southern regions, but due to the lack of heat resistance, it needs mulching and shading. In the northern regions, manages to realize only 70% of the potential yield.
- sweet juicy berry
- not showered
- disease resistance
- sensitivity to heat and drought
Excellent dessert berry, not much prickly, so picking berries without a negative. Care is the same as for other remontant raspberries.
The best classic raspberry varieties
250 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Old classic mid-season raspberry variety, not losing its popularity. Grown for fresh consumption and processing, not suitable for commercial purposes. Shrubs tall, from 2 to 2.5 m, erect, slightly sprawling, form a few root suckers. Gives few shoots replacement. Shoots arc-shaped, drooping. When disrupted, they are easily separated from the stem, but do not fall off when overripe. On average, from one bush can be collected 1.5 - 2 kg.
In favorable years on young shoots re-fruiting is possible. The variety is not demanding on soil types and care, but has low drought resistance. In the absence of irrigation, the onset of fruiting is delayed by 2 to 3 weeks. Poor drafts and susceptible to viral diseases. In general, the variety is characterized as the most enduring and is recommended to “lazy” and inexperienced gardeners. It is grown in all regions of Russia, but it is of particular value for the Central Belt, the Urals and Western Siberia.

The best standard raspberry varieties
300 (for one-year sapling in a package with wet moss)
Standard raspberry late ripening. In one season, a branchy tree grows to a height of 1.8 m, with thick shoots on a trunk. The shoots are elastic and do not need a garter, thorns are absent. The variety perfectly branches and does not need special labor-intensive pruning. Gives annually 3 - 4 escape replacement. In the bush leave no more than 10 shoots.
Maroon-red berries, sweet and sour, conical or irregular in shape, up to 10 - 15 g, dense and transportable, have a pronounced aroma and are good in processing. Small seeds are almost not felt. Productivity is high: up to 4 kg from one bush.

- high yield
- resistance to diseases and pests
- lack of thorns
- average taste
- inability to bend down shoots to the ground for shelter
The shoots of Tarusa are powerful, but under the weight of the harvest, they still bend and can break, so I use a trellis. Good yield yield, use for harvesting jam and jam - are very fragrant.
270 (for one-year sapling with a package with wet moss)
Standard raspberry variety with remontant fruiting. Shrub up to 1.5 m, forms up to 5 powerful branched shoots with drooping tops. The lower part of the shoots has hard spikes. Due to the weak formation of shoots for breeding, grafting is more often used.
The berries are juicy red in color, weighing from 7 to 20 g, pyramidal with a blunt top, sweet with a slight sourness and a bright aroma, evened and appetizing. When collecting do not fall apart, suitable for storage and transportation. From one bush they collect an average of 4-5 kg.
Painfully reacts to interruptions in irrigation, tying small berries. The variety has average winter hardiness. In the northern regions under the conditions of early frosts due to the late ripening period and extended fruiting, only 50% of the potential yield is realized. This raspberry variety is good for southern regions. In the middle zone, it is grown in an annual crop, when in the fall the shoots are cut to ground level.
- dessert taste of berries
- high yield
- susceptibility to viral diseases
- low drought tolerance
Berries of dessert taste, bushes neat, fruitful. Raspberries require attention, but this is in all large-fruited varieties.
Studying varietal diversity in the catalogs of online stores or nurseries, we must not forget about acclimatization and varietal testing in new climatic conditions for the variety. If the raspberry variety seems attractive to you and has positive reviews in other regions, then first you should buy 1 - 2 bushes, provide them with the best conditions and conduct their assessment. Taste, strength of growth, ripening period are largely determined by the conditions of cultivation: the climate zone and agricultural technology.
Have a good harvest!
Attention! The accuracy of the information and the results of the ranking is subjective and is not an advertisement.
With the right care, modern raspberry varieties yield 5kg from a bush, and in some years up to 7-9kg, one weave of raspberry makes a 150-200kg harvest! These are very real numbers, it’s only a matter of the correctly selected variety and competent care. To our happiness and thanks to our leading breeders, I. Kazakov. and Kichine V.V., we have an excellent selection of raspberry varieties, including the remontant and large-fruited ones. The technology of planting raspberries is also investigated far and wide, you will only have to follow simple guidelines.
In the table compiled by us, a brief description of the variety is given. All modern varieties taste, yield and size at an excellent level! First of all, remember that the best varieties remain fruitful and give good quality berries to the regions in which they are regionalized, so there is no point in taking the best varieties for the Moscow region and growing them in Krasnodar. For the same reason, there is not much point in foreign raspberry varieties, in our table only a few of these are presented, otherwise, the Russian varieties are wonderful, tested on personal experience. Read more about how we make our tables and ratings, read here.
Berry weight traditional varieties from 4g. Relatively recently, large-fruited raspberry varieties have appeared, with a weight of berries exceeding 6g, in some cases the weight of berries reaches 12g. Read more about large-fruited varieties at the bottom of the page.
Remontny grades they produce both on one-year and two-year-old sprouts. An important advantage of remontant varieties is that there are no pests on them. There are disadvantages. Read more about repair grades.
Fruiting period At the end of June in the Moscow region ripen the berries of the early raspberry varieties, in the middle of July - the late ones. Repair varieties begin to bear fruit from the beginning of August until frosts. Thus, having picked up 5-6 grades you can provide yourself with fresh raspberries for 3 months, from the end of June to September.
How to plant, how to plant Для семьи из 3-4 человек достаточно посадить половину сотки малины, где разместится 20-30 кустов. Raspberry, in general, unpretentious shrub and care for her simple, but care is still needed! The difference in yield can reach up to 10 times, and it all depends on you. Read in our article about how to plant raspberries.

Large raspberry varieties
For a very long time, the largest varieties were raspberries with a mass of berries up to 4.5 g, but, relatively recently, large-fruited raspberries with a mass of berries ranging from 6.0 g and more have appeared.
The history of large-fruited raspberries began in 1961, when in Scotland, the well-known English breeder Derek Jennings discovered a mutant of the varieties Molling Juel with modified berries that was widespread in those years. After working with this plant, the first large-fruited raspberry varieties were obtained. All so far known large-fruited raspberries come only from the mutant variety Molling Juel, and their whole story is about forty years. Large raspberry is caused by the L1 gene, which was found in the same plant. Work on the Soviet large-fruited varieties began in the 70s, today, the most popular varieties are: Heracles, Yellow Giant, Golden Autumn, Heracles, Orange Miracle, Atlas, Patricia, Tarusa, Pride of Russia. The mass of their berries reaches 7-11.5 g, which is two to three times the size of large-fruited not only the best parental forms, but also the most common raspberry varieties.
Grow large raspberries can not everywhere. Large-fruited varieties can withstand temperatures down to -30, but in northern places in the Kostroma or Tver region they lack heat, their shoots and leaves do not ripen to frost, and in berries there is not enough sugar, although their size almost reaches the norm. The taste is simple, so residents of the northern regions still need to pay attention to traditional varieties.
In conditions of Western and Eastern Siberia, after a successful wintering under snow, the same large-fruited raspberry varieties fall into the relatively warm local conditions of summer and under conditions of sufficiency of active heat, during the growing season, good-quality berries are constantly obtained.
But in addition to these advantages, the L1 gene has some drawbacks. The main thing is that this gene is genetically unstable, and in a number of varieties it passes from the dominant to the recessive state, that is, mutants for this gene are regularly formed and such forms reduce their large-fruited weight somewhat. But, this is a problem and the work of nurseries, to identify substandard seedlings. The correct sapling will grow throughout its life and give large-fruited raspberries, so the gardener should study the agrotechnology of planting raspberries, and
do not go into the details of gene stability.
