General information

The most cold-resistant hybrid: grapes - Super Extra

The choice of a grape variety for growing on your own personal plot is made according to several criteria, including sharpeniness, quality and quantity of the crop, ease of vine care and much more. This article focuses on such varieties as Super Extra grapes.

The main characteristics of the variety

The grapes referred to in this article are dining rooms. The Super-Extra grape variety was bred in Novocherkassk on a personal plot as a result of crossing the Cardinal and Talisman grape varieties. The main advantage of this variety is its precociousness and the rapid maturation of the vine, which allows the plant to tolerate short and cool weather conditions well, without losing the current and next year's yields.

The frost resistance of the vine is very high: the variety perfectly tolerates a drop in temperature to -25 degrees. Grapes Super Extra (photo in the article) is considered one of the most resistant varieties in relation to various diseases such as mildew and oidium. It is these features that make it possible to successfully grow this variety in garden plots in the middle lane and even in Siberia, provided that the vine is harboring during cold weather.

Description of the fruits of Super Extra grapes

Super-Extra grapes, which ripen in only 90-105 days, form quite large clusters weighing more than 0.5 kg each, and under favorable conditions it reaches 1.5 kg. In this case, the distinguishing feature of the bunch is the presence in it of berries of different sizes: from very large to medium.

The Super-Extra grape variety has a magnificent sweet-sour taste of berries that have a dense skin. During the period of pouring, the berries are white, and as they mature fully they acquire a beautiful amber shade. The mass of a single berry averages about 8 g. Due to the high density of the skin, they are excellent in transporting transportation over long distances.

Amateur winegrowers should pay attention to a few tips on planting and caring for the vine, which are listed below to increase the chances of getting a big harvest of Super-Extra grapes.

Scheme of planting grapes Super Extra

First of all, it is worth recalling that the vine can develop normally and bear fruit only when it is illuminated almost all day by sunlight. Therefore, it is better to choose a well-lit place for landing. Super-Extra grapes, the description of which contains information about the strong growth of the plant, should be planted at a somewhat greater distance from each other than other varieties. The aisles should be at least 2.5 m wide, ideally 3 m. Seedlings in a row should be located at a distance of about 2 m from each other. Preparation of the place where the grapes of this variety will be planted should be dealt with at least 3 months before planting the seedlings. In most cases, amateur gardeners prepare planting pits of 80 x 80 cm and a depth of about 1 m, in some cases you can dig a trench.

The top layer of soil that remains after digging holes or trenches must be mixed with humus and sand (if it is clay). In addition, it is not bad to add about 1 bucket of pure wood ash to the soil mix and a superphosphate packet (0.5 kg). The resulting mixture is poured to the bottom of the landing pit or trench and well shed.

How to plant a young vine

To plant Super-Extra grapes as soon as possible after purchasing the seedlings, as the roots of this plant are easy to dry. Before planting, it is better to soak the roots of a seedling for a day in clean water or a root-formation stimulator solution, which are sold in any store for summer residents. After soaking, you need to lower the roots of the grape seedling in the clay mortar, after which you can plant it in a permanent place. The depth of planting should be acceptable, that is, there is no need to fill the young plant with soil before the root collar. It is better to fill the ground to growth.

When planting in spring, the grapes should be pritenyat up to full survival of covering material with low density. In the autumn, saplings need protection from frost and preparation of a good shelter for the winter.

Features of care for grapes Super-Extra

Caring for Super Extra grapes should be carried out immediately after planting. Watering should be carried out at least 2 times a month with sufficient amount of settled water (about 30 liters under one plant). In the subsequent watering is necessary, without over-wetting the soil, as this may cause cracking of the fruit. After watering and natural precipitation, the soil under the grapes must be carefully and carefully loosened, taking care not to damage the roots that are close to the surface. During loosening, all weeds are removed.

In the spring before the beginning of the growth of shoots, it is important not to forget about the treatment of Bordeaux vines with liquid to prevent the development of diseases. In the same period, they are engaged in the formation of the plant: they tie up the vines to the supports, cut off the old, excess and diseased shoots. It is worth paying attention to gardeners that, for better yields, it is enough to leave an average of 5-7 eyes on each vine when pruning.

Since the flowers of the grape of this variety are bisexual, there are a lot of ovaries. In order to avoid depletion of the vine and its breakage due to the large weight of the poured fruit, it is recommended to normalize the inflorescences, that is, to pluck out excess clusters during the flowering period.

Having planted this remarkable in all respects variety of table grapes on its plot, any summer resident begins to feel himself a skilled winegrower, who always collects excellent harvests.

What kind is it?

The Super Extra grape variety belongs to table grape varieties, as well as the well-known Karmakod, Korinka Russian or young Lily of the Valley. It can well ripen on the shady side of the house. This variety can be recommended both for its own consumption and for wholesale.

Thanks to the super early maturation, the market is in great demand. It has a high transportability, along with such varieties as Favor and New Gift Zaporozhye. Perfectly withstands transportation.

Berries are rich in vitamins and nutrients. Amateur gardeners are very pleased with this hybrid form due to early ripening, high yield and excellent taste.

Few replace it with other varieties. Experienced winegrowers joke: "Such a variety appears once in a hundred years." And this is despite a large number of hybrids, among which there are many excellent ones - Aladdin, King of Blood, or Blagovest.

Vine and normalization

The reverse sides of Super Extra grape leaves have pubescence - a short, whitish pile that resembles filtered paper.

Flower functionality: bisexual. Not subject to shedding buds. Pollination is bad. Prone to pea.

When flowering in hot weather it is necessary to spray the bushes through a spray with water at room temperature.

This procedure will help to moisten the inflorescences and purge the vine for benign pollination. With heavy rains, pollination can be completely eliminated altogether.

During flowering to prevent damage and exhaustion of the vine, it is necessary to pull out a part of the clusters.

The variety produces stepchildren, which may appear small clusters before the mandatory autumn pruning. In their stepsons, grapes are inferior in size to the main crop.

Such clusters are average in density, without pea, with excellent pollination. Kidney with excellent active growth. Vine with excellent maturation. Requires proper normalization of the load on the bushes.

For rationing of fruiting, you need pinching and a small piece of green shoots. Replacement shoots are not recommended to be heavily loaded. With increasing crop load on the bush, the ripening of the vine deteriorates significantly.

Shape grapes Super Extra needed in spring. In this period of time it is necessary to produce sanitary pruning plants. Vines tie up to the gazebo or other supports.

For a great harvest, on the vine leave 5 or 7 eyes. For the formation of large clusters, leave 3 or 5 eyes.

On the vines of this variety produces a large number of ovaries.

Breeding and growing

Super Extra grapes are a hybrid form of amateur breeding by E.G. Pavlovsky. Evgeny Pavlovsky is the author of more than fifty kinds of grape forms. Among them are Ayut Pavlovsky, King and the Gift of Nesvetaya. The Super Extra variety was created on a personal plot in the city of Novocherkassk by crossing FV-6-6 x (K-41 + pollen mixture).

Original grade name: "Super Extra", a synonym for "Citrine." The form is not capricious.

Sort can grow well in the north. It grows well in the southern and central parts of Russia, Siberia, Ukraine, Belarus. Unpretentious in growing. It takes root well on root roots.

Also as a hybrid Marcelo, begins to bear fruit in the second year after planting. The variety is recommended to plant at the arches or walls. Grows well in greenhouses.

When growing grapes, the land is carefully weeded away from weeds and carefully loosened so as not to damage the roots of the plant.

Shrubs varieties, with a good fit, greatly expand. The variety requires proper nutrition, fertilizing.

Feed bushes This variety is best organic minerals: nitrogen, potassium or phosphate.

The feed is usually carried out during the growing season, two weeks after flowering, but before the full ripening of the clusters.

Responds well to fertilizer.

Water grapes are needed as the land dries. But at least once every seven days.

Watering the bushes is carried out on 12-15 liters of water under one plant.

After watering, the ground around the bush is covered with mulch, which consists of blackened sawdust or moss, three centimeters in layers.

Productivity and frost resistance

Super Extra grapes, like Karmakod, has a stable yield. It is above ultra-early variety. Refers to premature, unusual for grape varieties, ripening period - up to 90 days.

By July 15, the clusters reach full maturity. By the first days of August it completely overrides.

Not recommended overload the bushes. In this case, the time of fruit ripening increases dramatically. On one shoot it is necessary to leave only one grape tassel. In case of non-observance of normalization and grapes, more than 1 kilogram, the crop is ripening in 100 days.

Harvest from one vine can reach up to 30 kilograms without complying with normalization. With compliance - 15-20 kilograms. Fruits, without cracking and without losing transportability, are remarkably preserved on the bushes.

Equally frost resistant are the Beauty of the North, the Arched and Pink Flamingo.

Refers to covering crops. In the winter and during the cold weather, the vine must be covered.

Pests and diseases

Super Extra Grade perfectly resistant to diseases Oidiumu and mildew. Aphids, tick and other pests are not affected. Not very susceptible to phylloxera.

When heavy precipitation is subjected to cracking. At the same time the tip of the fruit bursts and a black stripe remains. It is not subject to rotting.

Before the beginning of the growth force, the bushes must be sprayed with a solution of Bordeaux mixture.

For information on how to prevent such diseases as bacteriosis, chlorosis or anthracnose, see the individual materials of our site.

Super Extra grape variety - favorite variety of all growers. According to its quality corresponds to the name.

The variety has a high yield, early ripening, preservation of fruits without cracking for a long time on the bushes.

It is resistant to mildew and oidium diseases, is not subject to rotting, has a stable yield even in the shade of the walls and arches. Its nutmeg taste disappears under heavy loads on the bushes. From one vine you can collect up to 20 kilograms of fruit.

Variety description

The Super Extra variety has been bred by E. Pavlovsky. When breeding, the Talisman and Cardinal varieties were taken as the basis.
