General information

The real sweetness of early fruits is the cherry variety Dessert Morozova

Dessert Morozova - early ripe variety of ordinary cherry breeding All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture. I.V. Michurin. According to VNIISPK, a new variety was obtained from the seed of Vladimirskaya cherry, treated in the seedling stage with a chemical mutagen ethyleneimine (aziridine) at a concentration of 0.1%. According to the State Register of the Russian Federation Dessert Morozova is a mutagen of Griot Ostheims No. 2. The variety was named after its author, TV. Morozova. In 1997, the variety was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements in the Central Black Soil Region (Kursk, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Oryol, Tambov Region).

The trees are sredneroslye, with a sprawling, wide-round crown, medium-rich. The bark of the trunk and the main branches are colored light brown. The shoots are large, straight, hairless, gray-green in color. The number of lentils is average. The kidneys are egg-shaped, with a strong deviation from the shoot. The leaves are larger than the average size, obovate, light green in color, a bicuspid serration passes along the edge. The surface of the leaf blade is opaque, hairless, with a smooth relief. Petioles of medium length and thickness, painted anthocyanin in color along the entire length. On the base of the leaf and on the scape there are 1 - 2 small glands of red coloration. Stipules are short, fall early. Pobedoobrazitelnaya ability increased. The variety responds well to various pruning techniques, such as nipping shoots, pinching, shortening gains.

The flowers are white in color, large size, pinkish, pyatilepestkovye. Petals are rounded. The stigma of the pistil is located above the level of stamens. Flowering takes place in the early stages. Fruit ovaries are formed mainly on annual growths - fruit twigs.

Fruits of the Dessert Morozova cherry are above medium and large in size (weighing from 3.7 to 4.6 - 5 grams), one-dimensional, rounded, with a small inconspicuous abdominal suture, the tip of the fruit is concave, the depression at the base is medium. The skin is red, with a small number of small subcutaneous points. The stem is long, medium thickness. A separating layer is formed between the fruit and the stem. Bones round shape, medium size. The separation of cherries from the stem is dry.

The flesh is red, soft in density, soft and juicy in texture, sweet in taste, sweet and sour (sweetness is high, acidity is very low). Tasting score - 4.6 - 4.7 points. By chemical composition, the fruits contain: dry substances (15.3%), the amount of sugars (12.77%), acids (0.9%), ascorbic acid (10 mg / 100 g). Transportation fruits tolerate well.

The level of precociation is high: at the time of fruiting, trees come in from the 3rd - 4th year. Fruits ripen early - in the conditions of the city of Michurinsk in the 2nd decade of June.

This cherry is partially self-fertile. Among the best pollinators distinguish varieties: Vladimir, Griot Ostheims, Griot Rossoshansky, Student.

Under Michurinsk conditions, the level of average yield of a variety reaches 50 - 70 c / ha. For the period from 1992 to 1996. average yield exceeded the control variety Lyubskaya by 10 q / ha. In young trees, the increase in yields is slow due to the imbalance of reproductive and growth processes.

Winter hardiness of trees is high, the level of drought resistance is average. The variety is characterized by increased resistance to coccomycosis.

The most successful way of reproduction of this cherry is by green cuttings (in some years up to 70% of rooting). The best stock is Vladimirskaya. Pruning trees is similar to Lyubskaya - bare branches are shortened.

The main advantages of the dessert cherries Morozova include: very early ripening, high rates of early fruit and winter hardiness, fruitfulness, dessert fruit taste, resistance to diseases.

There are varieties and their disadvantages. When checking for resistance to coccomycosis in conditions of severe infectious background, only an average resistance is detected (susceptibility is 1 - 2 points). Also, when untimely pruning of the crown branches become bare.

Breeding history and breeding region

Dessert Morozova is a relatively young variety. The year of his birth is 1997

At the same time, a well-developed and tested culture was entered into the Russian State Varietal Register.

And since then, thanks to its valuable qualities, it remains very popular among gardeners - professionals and amateurs.

The author of the variety, who gave the novelty not only life, but also the name, was a well-known breeder, candidate of agricultural sciences and a recognized specialist in the development of stone fruit, T. Morozova. Her hand also owns Lebedyanskaya, Tamaris.

Like most of her cherry and cherry "works", Tamara Vasilievna created the Dessert on the basis of All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture and Nursery. I.V. Michurin (Michurinsk, Tambov region).

This research institution is well known in Russia and abroad for its high-profile developments, the goal of which has always been to create cultures that are well adapted to modern natural and environmental conditions.

As for the variety Dessert Morozova, the Vladimirskaya cherry variety was used as the basis for its creation.

In the process of selection, the seeds of the “parent” species in the germinated state were treated with the chemical substance ethyleneimine (EI) with a mutagen.

The concentration of mutagen was about 0.1%.

After breeding and entering the state register, the variety was zoned for preferential cultivation across the Central Black Earth region (Russia).

Hope, Lyubskaya, Novella are also suitable for growing in these territories.

Appearance of cherry Dessert Morozova

The following appearance signs are inherent in the Morozova Cherry Dessert:

Usually characterized medium tall (sometimes lower or higher than average height). Tree bark covers the bark of a light brown hue.

Crown, branches. The crown is wide enough in scope, formed by durable, spreading branches covered with light brown bark. As a rule, it has a shape close to the shape of a ball. Usually contains a moderate amount of leaves (medium foliage). Similar signs are also demonstrated by the Griot of Moscow, Lebedyanskaya and Morozovka.

Shoots. The elongated shoots are gray-green in color. A small amount of lentils is formed on their surface.

The buds have a rounded ovoid shape, significantly deviated from the surface of the shoot. Fruiting occurs both on the bouquet branches and on the annual increments (in the latter - to a greater extent).

Leaves. Dessert Morozova leaves are characterized by light shades of dull green. The size of the usual for this cherry leaf is more than average. The shape is obovoid.

The leafless leaf has a smooth to the touch surface. On the edge of the sheet, biconorigular serrations are observed. At its base you can see 1-2 small reddish glands.

Leaves are kept on shortened petioles of medium thickness. On the petioles there are also glands of red color.

Inflorescences On the tree in the spring in the form of roses bloom large size white flowers. Petals are rounded. The stigma of the pistil and stamens have different heights.

Round, quite large and weighty cherries (average fruit weight is within 4.7-5.0 g) at the base they have a moderately large groove and apex with noticeable concavity. On the abdomen of the berries is fixed barely noticeable seam.

The peel is colored bright red, there is a small amount of small subcutaneous spots.

The flesh of the same red color does not differ in special density, there is a lot of juice in it.

Inside the fruit, a medium-sized, rounded bone is hidden, which is easily separated from the pulp. The berry is kept on the branch by means of a sufficiently long stalk.

Between the berry and not thick stalk there is a separation layer. Further in the article description of the sort of dessert cherry Morozova and photo of the fruit.

Characteristics of a variety

Winterhardy grade cherry Dessert Morozovaas the same age grade refers to partially self-fertilized. In terms of its ability to fertilize with its own pollen, this category occupies an intermediate position between self-bearing and self-infesting species.

Such affiliation means that the culture in question through its own genetic material can tie from 7 to 20% of the entire fruit array.

Thus, in order to be able to shoot decent yields, Morozova Dessert Cherry requires additional pollinating trees from the outside.

In addition, cutting is an effective breeding method. Such a method under certain conditions gives up to 70-75% rooting of Dessert Morozova.

At the same time, Vladimirskaya cherry is considered the best stock (the tree on which the cuttings are planted) for this variety.

According to the standard, Dessert, like Podbelskaya, ripens early. The harvest under the condition of sunny warm weather is removed in the first decade of June. However, the maximum charges of ripe produce can be expected only 3-4 year after planting this variety.

At the stage of full ripeness, the fruit fully justifies the name of its variety. Cherries are not only very attractive in appearance, but also very tasty.

The pronounced sweet taste of the fruit is marked by soft dessert notes, with a light and very pleasant refreshing sourness (Dessert Morozova cherries have a significantly reduced acidity). Varieties Volochaevka, Zhukovskaya and Lebedyanskaya have a good sweet taste.

The chemical composition of the dessert cherry Morozova:

Description and characteristics

This hybrid won the sympathy of many gardeners due to its unpretentiousness, excellent taste and early maturation. Let's take a closer look at its main characteristics.

The “Dessert Morozova” cherry is a relatively low tree (about 3 m), with a branchy spherical crown. The bark on the lower part of the trunk and the main knots has a light brown color, on young branches it is gray-green. Large shoots have an average number of lenticles. Only young shoots are fruitful, in connection with this pruning of a tree it is necessary to pay special attention. In spring, medium-sized ovoid buds appear on the twigs, which are strongly deviated from the stem.

They have a smooth relief and a matte surface with a light green color. The buds of this hybrid have no pubescence, like other plants. The leaves are rather large, similar in outline to an egg. Their surface is smooth, the stalk has an average length and thickness.

At the base of the leaf and on the handle there are 1-2 veins of red hue. The creeps of the “Dessert Morozova” cherry are short and fall off early. The foliage spreads over the crown evenly, but it is not so much. The leaves of this hybrid have a dull green color of light shades.

When the tree begins to bloom, it is covered with many large white flowers that exude a pleasant sweetish aroma. They are collected in inflorescences and have petals of a round shape, and pistils slightly protrude above the stamens. Flowers appear quite early, as the variety belongs to the early flowering.

After flowering, a berry is formed on the pedicel. The fruits of the “Dessert Morozova” are large and juicy, bright red. If we look at the cherry in the light, you can see small subcutaneous dots. The flesh is very juicy, red in color and delicate texture. Stone rounded, medium size.

The average weight of the berry is 4.6-5 g. It has an average depression near the stem and a barely noticeable abdominal suture. The stem is of medium thickness, and a separating layer forms at the border between it and the fruit. Berries varieties "Dessert Morozova" have a sweetish taste that looks more like the taste of sweet cherries. They contain more than 12% of sugars, and the tasting of the hybrid to taste was 4.6 out of 5 points.

Winter hardiness and disease resistance

This hybrid belongs to frost-resistant cultures. He quietly tolerates a drop in temperature to -40 ° C, which allows him to grow in the middle latitudes of our country. However, it does not tolerate a dry climate.

This variety has an average resistance to diseases. According to the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture, when checking the stability of a hybrid for coccomycosis, he showed an average level of security. For the prevention of this disease, an ash-salt solution (a mixture of ash, salt and laundry soap in a ratio of 6: 1: 1 is dissolved in 10 l of water), which is used in early spring, spraying iodine (10 ml per 1 bucket of water), treatment manganese solution (5 g manganese to 1 bucket of water).

Spraying with iodine and manganese is carried out three times. In this case, iodine treatment is used before budding with an interval of 3 days, and manganese - before flowering, after and during the ripening of the berries.

This variety has the property of self-pollinating, but at the same time, the yield of the tree does not exceed 20% of the total number of ovaries. That is why the most ideal way of pollination is group planting trees. The best varieties for this are cherry "Student", "Vladimirskaya", "Griot Rossoshansky" or "Griot Ostgeymsky".

This variety is widespread due to good transportability. That is why the hybrid is often used for sale in various regions of the country, even the most remote.

Growing conditions

For successful cultivation, cherries need to be in the right place. So, the solar site protected from a wind and draft is best for landing. Ideal - near the south side of any building.

When choosing a place of cultivation, it is necessary to remember that the depth of groundwater should not be less than 1.5 meters. Otherwise, the root system decays and the plant begins to die. Cherry "Dessert Morozova" prefers neutral soil, which consists of subglinka (a mixture of clay and sand), sandy or sandy soil.

Landing rules

Regarding the time of landing of this hybrid, there are two opinions. Some gardeners believe that the cherry can be planted in the fall. In this case, in the spring the seedling is already rooted and will develop better. Others - that it is better to plant a cherry in the open ground after the snow melted.

This will protect the plant from the effects of unexpected spring frosts, which can destroy a young, fragile tree.

It should be taken into account and what kind of seedling will be at your disposal. Young tree with an unprotected root system is best planted in the spring, but for containerized seedlings, planting time does not matter much.

When planting, it is necessary to determine the area of 3x3, where the tree will grow in the center. In this case, it will not intertwine with neighboring trees in the process of growth, and the root system will be able to develop freely.

A hole is dug in the center of this section, the depth of which should be 40-60 cm and a diameter of 50-60 cm. Some gardeners recommend digging a hole with a diameter of 80 cm, but this diameter is irrational, since the root system of the seedling is not so developed.

The soil, which is removed in the preparatory work, is mixed with mineral fertilizers and humus. In this way, the young plant will be nourished and better rooted. You can also apply fertilizer directly to the bottom of the fossa, for example, 2 tbsp. spoons of superphosphate. However, in this case, before planting a seedling, it is necessary to pour a layer of earth over the fertilizers so that the roots do not get burned. To root rooted better, roots can be soaked in warm water, it will stimulate growth.

Placing the seedling in the hole, you need to straighten the roots and cover them with earth. Having well tamped up the soil, a peg is driven in near the young plantings at a short distance, which will be maintained by an unstable seedling and will not interfere with growth.

Around the cherries make a watering hole, which is poured into a few buckets of water, and a wet bud well mulch. A layer of mulch will retain moisture and protect the roots from drying out. The use of such a layer is very important in regions with a dry climate and the lack of opportunity to regularly water the sapling.

How to care

Cherry "Desert Morozova" does not need special care. Caring for her as well as for other varieties.

Regular watering is required during awakening after winter and during budding, which is carried out 4 times a month, and more often if necessary (depending on climatic conditions).

When the tree begins to bloom, watering is reduced, and in the process of ripening berries, the soil is moistened as it dries. When excess liquid moisture accumulates in the berries, and they become much more watery, and consequently their transportability deteriorates. Irrigation needs to be done in the morning and / or in the evening, pouring one bucket of water on a tree - then the liquid will evaporate less.

Particular attention should be paid to feeding trees with potassium, as with its lack of plants cease to bear fruit.

It should be remembered that rich soil does not require frequent feeding, but the poor are recommended to be fertilized annually.

Soil care

The land around the trunk must be regularly loosened. This allows you to make the soil more airy, and moisture will easily and quickly penetrate to the roots. Periodically, the stalk zone should be weeded, removing young shoots and weeds.

It is important to pay special attention to proper pruning, as it may affect the yield of the tree. The “Dessert Morozova” cherry is cut for the first time right after planting, which allows it to form a crown, and later on each spring before the buds are dissolved.

It is necessary to cut the branches at the very base so that hemp does not form. Shoots that are directed towards the ground or spread along it must be cut completely. Regular thinning of the crown helps to protect the tree from parasites and diseases.

Young shoots are also pruned, leaving only smooth and healthy. However, one should not get involved in such a procedure either, because excessive pruning takes a lot of energy from the plant and inhibits its development. Cherry, which has reached three years of age, is limited in growth, pruning her upper shoots.

Preparing for the winter

Due to the high degree of frost resistance, the “Dessert Morozova” cherry does not need additional shelter. However, the tree is not protected from rodents, therefore the trunk of a cherry is wrapped up and a wire fence is installed.

Experienced gardeners in the winter period throw drifts under the crown of the tree - this reduces the impact of spring frosts on the root system.

A brief history of the origin of varieties of cherries Dessert Morozova

Variety bred in the Institute of Horticulture. The author is the famous breeder Tamara Vasilyevna Morozova, after whom the variety was named. According to information from the State Register, the variety was obtained by genetic engineering by processing the EI (ethyleneimine) with the germinated seed of the cherry seed Griot Ostgeimsky No. 2 (All-Russian Research Institute for Breeding Fruit Crops (VNIISPK) claims that the Vladimir variety was the parent variety) In 1987, an application was made for admission, and 10 years later, in 1997, the variety was included in the State Register and zoned for the Central Black Soil Region.

Features of growing

Planting rules described cherries, as well as the stages, methods and techniques of care for her are no different from other varieties of this culture. So just list them briefly.

Like any cherry, the Dessert Morozova should be planted on a sunny, flat place, protected from the cold northern winds, with a deep groundwater table. The acidity of the soil should be close to neutral, and its structure - loose, permeable.

The variety needs regular regular fertilizing with organic and mineral fertilizers. Compost or humus is applied once every 3-4 years at the same time as the autumn digging. And also under the autumn digging make superphosphate at a rate of 40 g / m 2 (annually). In early spring, they feed with nitrogen-containing mineral fertilizers (ammonium nitrate, urea) in an amount of 20-30 g / m 2, and at the end of May - potash fertilizers (potassium monophosphate, potassium sulfate). In the summer they will not interfere with fertilizing with liquid herbal infusions.

As a moderately drought-tolerant plant, the variety needs spring watering - before flowering, after flowering, during the period of fruit set. If necessary, you can water in the second half of the summer, but the traditional prewinter moisture-charging watering should not be missed either.

An important element of care is timely trimming - you need to shorten regularly exposed branches. This contributes to the formation of new young shoots, which will form fruit buds. And also, as usual, you should cut the tops, thickening the crown of the branch, dry and diseased shoots.

Cherry tree needs regular pruning

High peregoobrazovatelny ability of the variety leads to abundant growth of shoots. You need to fight it regularly, cutting it out at the root. Since usually the Dessert Morozova saplings are grafted, it is impossible to use seedlings for breeding. If necessary, for propagation it is better to use green cuttings that take root very well - up to 70%. As a stock it is recommended to take seedlings of Vladimirskaya cherry.

Gardeners reviews

I keep the varieties Vladimirskaya and Dessert Morozova only because of the taste - they have a great taste.

My dessert is Morozova. Really like. Cherry is large, scarlet, with glitter, the sweetest of cherries. Looks great. Itself sprawling, and the leaves are large. Sparrows love her because she is sweet. I hang CDs, scare away sparrows well. Fruits are large, in a freezing well keep a form. I would recommend it.

I still have unstretching. So, Morozova Dessert before it is in time. But uneven. Can hang on the branches for a long time. And the fruits are not dark. The tree is small.

For example, tasty and rather large Volochaevka, Zhukovskaya, Dessert Morozova. But how do they behave in your area and how are you with fungal diseases? After all, Morozova’s dessert has ended my moniliosis ... And it’s a pity there was a good grade!

Natalja_3216, Kostroma region

I want to share some experience buying cherry saplings. Positive and negative. Positive - the cherry sapling Dessert Morozova, bought by the agricultural company “Search” in May 2010, was very pleased. Declared as early, it already the following year in the spring of 2011 blossomed - before all others (there are Vladimirka and Shubinka) huge flowers.

And now about the sad. The sapling of the supposedly Dessert Morozova, which was planted at the same time, but bought by the FLOS agrofirm actually turned out to be late-flowering and small-fruited, that is, not at all what it was claimed to be. Apparently, in the sense of re-grading, insufficient attention is paid to plants with ACS in FLOS. Alas, spent money, time and place for landing. Now it is necessary to be engaged in re-vaccination. Do not cut down the same tree!

Summarizing, it can be noted that the cherry variety Dessert Morozova has indisputable advantages with a minimum of drawbacks. It can definitely be recommended to gardeners, along with other good varieties (especially if they will be Pollinators of Dessert Morozova) for cultivation both in household plots and in farms for commercial use.

Variety description

The tree can be immediately noticed due to the beautiful lush crown, covered with large bright berries. It is not too high (up to three meters), but with a well-developed crown and strong shoots. Cherry leaves are narrow, light green in color.

The main characteristics of the variety:

  • Large fruits of round shape and bright red color.
  • The taste is reminiscent of a sweet cherry, without the characteristic acid of the cherry in the composition.
  • Productivity - up to 20 kilograms from one tree.
  • A variety of early ripening, fruiting occurs around mid-June.
  • It is characterized by high frost resistance.
  • Resistant grade to characteristic diseases and pests.
  • Berries tolerate transportation.

According to the taste characteristics, the berry is estimated at 4.8 points out of five possible. In the composition of more than 12% sugar, which makes the fruit really dessert. In addition to fresh consumption, they are suitable for processing. Usually used in home canning, making jams and liqueurs.

How and when to plant

The variety is zoned for the central chernozem region, but due to the amazing taste characteristics it is much more common. Unscrupulous sellers can give him the usual strain, so buying a sapling is best with a guarantee and in a proven nursery. Before buying, you need to make sure the viability of the seedling.

A visual inspection of the roots and trunk will help identify possible damage and areas of rot or dryness. Such saplings are of little use for development, therefore it is better to abandon the acquisition.

In the video - time for planting cherries:

You can independently propagate this variety, making the vaccine on the most related - Vladimirsky. Usually seedlings quickly take root and there is no difficulty in growing them. In addition, the variety is characterized as one of the most popular in the southern regions, therefore, under favorable climatic conditions, it is suitable for industrial cultivation.

Pollination of cherries of this variety

"Morozova Dessert" refers to partially pollinated varieties, therefore, for better fruiting, several more trees with suitable flowering periods should be planted nearby.

The following varieties are considered the best pollinators for “Dessert Morozova”:

What is the term of maturation of Kharitonovskaya cherries, and what pollinators are needed, is described in the article by reference.

“Dessert Morozova” is an excellent high-yielding variety with high taste indices. The main value is due to the excellent taste of the fruit, as well as resistance to common diseases. The tree forms a rounded crown, as well as strong shoots.

The fruits ripen very early, they are of high quality and tolerate transportation. This will help the cultivation of cherries for commercial purposes.

Features of planting and cultivation of this variety are described in the information of our article.

But what are the reviews of gardeners about Zhukovskaya cherry, help to understand this description.

History of Cherry Dessert Morozova

Morozova's Dessert Cherry was developed at the Institute of Horticulture them. I.V. Michurin on the material of Vladimir cherry in 1987. It received its name in honor of the author Tamara Morozova.

Tamara Morozova, in addition to this variety, also owns cherries Tamaris, Morozovka, Lebedyanskaya, Victoria, Ryazanochka, Lyusinovskaya and Galatea, Michurinka cherries, Pink Pearl, Rondeau.

It is known that sweet cherries are rarely winter-hardy. Tamara Morozova managed to get a truly successful variety, featuring high winter hardiness (it tolerates the harsh winters of central Russia), combined with great taste.

Landing features

Planting cherries of this variety is not different from planting other stone fruit. Opinions gardeners differ only about the time of planting. Some gardeners believe that planting is best in the fall, so that the rooted sapling in the spring develops. And some, fearing return spring frost, suggest planting annual cherry trees after the snow melts, before bud break, believing that the seedling will develop in more comfortable conditions and become stronger by the winter. In any case, seedlings with an open root system are planted, as a rule, in the spring, and for the containerized ones, the planting time is not critical.

Cherry seedlings that are 1–2 years old take root best.

Cherry seedlings should not be older than 2 years

For a tree, it is necessary to find a solar plot that rises above the ground water over not less than 2–2.5 m. Cherry is not planted in the valley. If you plan to plant cherry seedlings next to the buildings, then you need to focus on the south side of the buildings so that the tree is protected from the northern winds. Cherry prefers slightly acidic or neutral soil. In composition - sandy or loamy. Before planting, it is recommended to add 1 bucket of sand to the planting pit to improve the mechanical composition of the soil.

Cherry planting process:

  1. Dig a hole 80 cm in diameter and 60 cm deep.
  2. Separate the upper fertile layer.
  3. Gravel is poured at the bottom for drainage.
  4. Add 3-5 kg of dolomite flour for soil deoxidation and providing the tree with calcium.
  5. Mix the humus with the surface layer of soil and dolomite flour.
  6. Planting cherries, without deepening the root neck, so as not to provoke the appearance of root suckers.
  7. Bind a sapling to a planting peg.
  8. Rammed the soil around the tree, forming an irrigation hole.
  9. Pour in 1-2 buckets of water.
  10. After the water is fully absorbed, the soil is mulched with dry peat, rotted sawdust or humus.

After planting and watering, be sure to soil the soil

When entering into the planting hole of humus or compost, the need for the addition of mineral fertilizers disappears. In the future, it will be necessary to feed the cherries no earlier than in 2-3 years.

Experienced gardeners recommend in the first year after planting to pick off up to 80% of the leaves for better seedling survival.

Tree care tips

Morozova Cherry Dessert does not require special care measures. To obtain a stable crop you need:

  • loosen the stem,
  • fertilize if necessary,
  • provide full watering
  • time to cut branches
  • protect against pests, carry out prevention and timely treat diseased trees.

Some gardeners in the spring fall asleep drifts around the cherries - it is a little bit delaying flowering, saving the delicate flowers from returning frosts. In order to save the bark from damage, in the fall you need to whiten the trees: the trunk of adult cherries - to a height of 1.5–1.7 m and the base of the skeletal branches, and the young - to the branches.

In the autumn, be sure to whitewash the cherry

Nitrogen fertilizers: urea and ammonium nitrate are applied only in spring, and in summer, during the formation of the ovaries, the trees are fed with nettle infusion or extract of mullein. 5 buckets of water are poured onto 1 bucket of a mullein, 1 kg of ash is added and then infused for a week. The resulting composition is diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 5 and make 2 buckets under each tree.

During the season, it is recommended to water the cherries several times, using at least 2–3 buckets of water for each tree. Important periods for watering:

  • the beginning of flowering
  • shedding of flowers and the formation of the ovary,
  • immediately after harvest,
  • in the fall, most often in October.

The irrigation scheme may be revised depending on the amount of precipitation.

For cutting the branches of this cherry, use standard techniques. In early spring, clean dry and damaged branches. In the future, pruning for fruiting and thickening prevention.

Cherry trimming scheme depends on the age of the tree

For the prevention of coccomycosis use:

  • ash-salt spraying in early spring: take ashes, salt and soap in the ratio 6: 1: 1, dilute in 10 liters of water, boil for 5 minutes and cool,
  • iodine spraying: dilute 10 ml of iodine tincture in 1 bucket of water, process trees three times before flowering with an interval of 3 days,
  • treatment with a solution of potassium permanganate: dissolve 5 g of potassium permanganate in 1 bucket of water and spray the cherry three times: in the “green cone” phase, after flowering and when the fruit is ripe.

The variety Desert Morozova is partially self-fertile, that is, it can independently produce only 7–20% of fruits. As pollinators, it is best to take the varieties Vladimirskaya, Griot Ostheims, Griot Rossoshansky, Student, which can increase yields.
