If they ask me now why grow beninkaz - wax gourdwhen we have so many wonderful varieties of pumpkin usual, I will not argue, I would rather agree. Still, this is not our, not Russian history. Although a couple of years ago I had a different opinion.

I read about the miraculous pumpkin in a wax coat, which can lie in an apartment for a whole year and not deteriorate.

Her skin is covered with a waxy coating that saves the vegetable from drying out. That would all the cucumber tomatoes do the same!

I wanted to by all means grow up the beninkaz.

You won't find such seeds in a small town.

This is understandable, people need to plant potatoes, and not indulge in exotic things. Seeds ordered through friends who live in the city. I found and sent only one grade - Akulina, although I read that in the suburbs grow more varieties Spanish-73, Goliath, Titan, Stogrunt.

Planting wax gourd - beninkazy

She grew a pumpkin through seedlings, otherwise she couldn’t grow it in the Middle zone. Planted in mid-April in large peat cups, each with two seeds. When the seedlings appeared, the weak seedling removed, the strong left.

As soon as the return frost ended, planted in the ground, on the sunniest place.

(By the way, the next year she planted immediately in the ground, as soon as the earth warmed up, at the end of May. In one hole two seeds each, to a depth of 4 cm. They write that the plant is very thermophilic, but an occasional 4 ° frost survived I liked to plant the soil more, after all the pumpkin is not a tomato, to mess around with seedlings.)

Wax gourd care

She cultivated beninkazu vraskid, that is, on a compost heap, although this species likes to spin a trellis. When 15 leaves appeared on the whip, it pinched. With the growth of extra shoots removed.

The rest of care for beninkaza is the same as for ordinary pumpkin. It is moisture-loving, but drought-resistant. Planted next to the usual pumpkins, they are not pereopilyatsya. But at the very beninkaz without additional pollination the fruits may not be tied. Therefore, on a sunny day with a brush transferred the pollen from one flower to another. During the summer, twice fed mineral fertilizer.

Liana vymahala about 4 m, I do not understand why they write about her that it is compact, and advised to grow on the balcony. True, the leaves are much smaller than the usual pumpkin, a little more cucumber. The flowers are large, beautiful, up to 15 cm in diameter.

Wow, do not be deceived!

Three fluffy fruits matured on my whip, the fluff gradually disappeared, and the gray crust grew stronger. Honestly, weighing 15 kg, as promised, my pumpkins have not grown. From the power of five pounds. But with a bluish wax bloom! There is not deceived.

Before the frost, in October, she cut the fruits together with the stem and put them in an apartment under the bed - where else do we keep pumpkins! With her nail, she slightly scrubbed the wax on the skin - a layer of thin. There is not enough for a candle - and how the aborigines manage to scrape wax off the pumpkins and make candles out of it!

But in general, it is better not to break the wax before long storage - this is a defense.

I will not torment: in the end, the pumpkin I lay under the bed for not a year, but even two. I just forgot about her. And when she rolled out, she looked like it was just from the garden. And with this not deceived. And the pumpkin tastes like pumpkin. Is that very convenient to use them. Each pumpkin - a separate portion. Cut in half, that's the form for stuffing. The flesh is white, slightly sweet.

It’s a pity, I didn’t know that the young leaves and buds of the pumpkin are a delicacy. But I'll try some other time. In the coming years, I will manage our native pumpkin, we will live without wax.

The fact that the pumpkin is a real queen in the garden and on the table has been repeatedly mentioned by many gardeners. And what do you say about nutmeg? It is worth getting to know her better.
For several years now I have planted a pumpkin in my garden. I tried many varieties. Among them were even gymnosperms and ornamental, but in the end I gave my heart to nutmeg.
The most interesting thing is that when I opened the bag of seeds, at first I thought that I was deceived, there were some strange, very small seeds. Well, okay, I think, I still risk it. The instructions said that the nutmeg is a tropical plant that is thermophilic, so I hardened it to improve the cold resistance of the planting material. Two days kept the seeds in the refrigerator, and then germinated for three more days in a damp napkin.
At the same time preparing the soil for the seedlings: mixed in equal parts of the sod land, peat and humus, added a little sand and ash. In this mixture and planted seeds spiked. I grew a pumpkin in a room, but as soon as the first shoots appeared, I immediately moved the pots to the loggia, where the temperature constantly holds around 15 °. Seedlings watered moderately (but did not allow the soil to dry out) and once a week fed with complex fertilizer.
After appearing three leaflets on sprouts, I transplanted them into previously prepared garden beds under the film, at a distance of 0.5 m from each other (as soon as the return frosts had passed, the shelter was immediately removed). Two weeks after disembarking, I fed my pumpkins with divorced mullein, and after another couple with ashes (1 cup for 1 bucket of water).
I noticed that nutmeg pumpkin had an intensive growth of foliage, but fruit grew very slowly. I figured it out and realized that they would not have time to mature in our summer. Deciding to speed up the process, I picked up a secateur and left only three ovaries on each plant, and pinched the stems above the fruits by 50 cm. And the remaining pumpkins, right before our eyes, began to change their color from white to light orange, and the shape from round on pear shaped. In late September, the foliage withered, and even though the fruits weighed less than 1.5 kg, they had to be removed from the garden and brought home. After lying for another couple of months, they darkened and turned light brown. At the same time, it should be noted that I had no problems with storing them (other varieties spoiled incomparably earlier).
After tasting them, I realized that nutmeg is the most delicious in the world. I found a lot of recipes with it, it goes well with lemon, cheese, and mushrooms. In short - a universal delicacy. Of course, I will plant it in the new season, but I will do it as early as possible, so that the fruits will have time to ripen even in the garden beds.

I have grown amazing pumpkin (sorry, the name of the variety I do not remember) about 50 cm in diameter. Outside, it is a beautiful red color, inside - hollow, with yellow with a greenish tint walls 5-10 cm thick.
Since autumn, rotted manure has patched up the soil, and in the spring, he added some clay and ash into the hole. Because of moles, only one plant survived. Fed him with a mullein extract - 0.5 tbsp. 10 liters, and a week later - 1 tbsp. on a bucket of water. The pumpkin came to life, grew to half a garden and gave seven fruits! I cook the pumpkin like this: cut into slices (cut off the peel only if it is firm) and 5 minutes carcass in sunflower oil under a closed lid. After mixing and carcass another 5-10 minutes. No seasonings, salt and other additives - only this way you can feel the true taste of pumpkin! After cooking, my pumpkin was the color of yellow potatoes and resembled its taste.

Description of wax gourd and its advantages

The plant belongs to the group of liana-like annual crops. Stems are faceted, long. With proper care, they can reach 4 m. Compared with other species, wax gourd leaves are much smaller. They are lobed, long-pebbly.

Buds large. In the loose form, they acquire an orange hue. At the end of flowering, in their place there are fruits. Often they become elongated. But quite often there are round. In our country, such a pumpkin can grow to a maximum of 5 kg. The green fruit on top is richly covered with villi with a sticky coating. In the process of growth, they become smooth.

Thanks to the flight, the pumpkin does not spoil for a long time.

Mature fruits can be stored for 2-3 years. For this it is enough, each of them is wrapped in paper and put in a cellar or on a balcony. Apply pumpkin beninkaza can be both in cooking and in medicine. It has antipyretic and diuretic properties. Also, the pulp is used as an analgesic.

Healing properties of wax gourd

Compared with other types of pumpkins, beninkaz has a lot more vitamin and trace elements in its composition. In eastern medicine, all parts of the plant are used.

Fruits are used for:

  1. Restore the proper functioning of the digestive system. The systematic use of pumpkin helps to saturate the body with useful components, which leads to the normalization of metabolism.
  2. Slimming Water, ash and dietary fiber, which pumpkin is rich in, when it enters the body helps to clean the intestines and stimulate its work.
  3. Pressure reduction. Potassium, magnesium, sodium favorably influence the work of the heart muscle and all vessels.
  4. Lower cholesterol. To reduce these indicators, often use, except for fruits, young leaves of a plant.
  5. Improve skin condition. Pumpkin pulp perfectly relieves inflammation, reduces flaking, and also accelerates wound healing.

Also wax pumpkin helps to strengthen the immune system. This is achieved thanks to a large amount of vitamin C, B, K and E. They help to protect the body from infections and various bacteria.

Beninkaz wax gourd: outdoor cultivation

This is a light-loving plant that develops beautifully only in sunny areas. In the shade the shoots become thin, and the fruits are small.

Selection of soil. It is necessary to grow up beninkaz only in a fertile soil. The soil must also allow air to flow well and not allow water to stagnate. As for acidity, the optimal indicators are the numbers in the range of 5.8-6.8 pH.

It is recommended to plant a pumpkin in areas where beets, carrots, beans, peas, parsley were previously grown.

Preparing for landing. Much depends on the proper preparation of the site. In order for the plant to produce the desired yield, the land should be well digged and manure brought in. This should be done in the fall. In the spring, just before planting, it is recommended to add a small amount of mineral fertilizers to the soil.

Sowing on seedlings. In our area to grow wax gourd should only this method. For this you need to take small pots. Put drainage at the bottom of the tank and cover it with substrate on top. In each pot should be put on 1-2 grains. They need to be placed at a depth of 1 to 2 cm.

Sow the pumpkin in the open ground is not worth it, because the fruits do not have time to fully ripen.

Containers with grains need to be placed in a room where the air temperature will be within +25 0 C. From above, the pots will need to be covered with polyethylene or clear glass. This will significantly accelerate the appearance of sprouts.

With regard to irrigation, irrigate the soil only with a spray gun. This should be done twice a week. As soon as young plants appear on the surface, the film needs to be removed. Closer to planting in open ground, flowerpots are recommended to take out to fresh air. So you harden the plants.

Wax gourd or beninkaz: description and advantages of pumpkin

Beninkaz (wax gourd)lianoid annual culture. The root system is well developed. The stems grow to four meters in length, faceted. The leaves are smaller than other pumpkin varieties, lobed, long-petiolate.

Flowers of wax gourd are large, painted in bright orange color, have a pleasant aroma.

Fruits are oblong or round. In our latitudes, they weigh up to 5 kg, in a warmer climate - up to 10 kg. Unripe fruits are covered with small bristles and a sticky coating resembling wax. Ripe pumpkins are smooth. The raid on them is compacted. Due to this, the fruits do not spoil for a long time.

It is the long storage period (2-3 years under normal conditions, for example, on the balcony or on the floor in the kitchen) that distinguishes this winter pumpkin from all the others.

Beninkaza is known in medicine for its antipyretic, diuretic, and analgesic properties.

Because of its small size, it is convenient to use pumpkin in cooking, for example, for stuffing with different fillings. The pulp of unripe fruits in raw form can be added to salads, and from mature ones - to cook various casseroles, side dishes, desserts.

What kind of lighting does beninkaz prefer?

Wax gourdthe plant is light-loving, so it will be good to grow and bear fruit only when planted on a sunny plot. In the shadows begins to lag behind in development.

Seeding beninkazy

To grow a pumpkin beninkaza in our latitudes can be from seedlings. To do this, in the second half of April - the first half of May, 1-2 seeds are put in liter pots. Landing depth - no more than 1-2 cm.

For beninkazy growing from seeds immediately in the open field is not practiced, as she does not have time to ripen.

How to care for crops

When growing pumpkins in the country, the seed tanks should be placed in a warm place (about 25 ° C and above) and covered with foil. Periodically they need to spray and air. It is recommended to temper the seedlings closer to transplanting, bringing them to fresh air for several hours.

Planting seedlings in open ground

In the second half of May - the first half of June, when the warm weather finally settled, beninkaza seedlings are planted in holes at a distance of 0.7-1 m from each other. Holes pre-pour boiling water.

Carefully placing the seedlings from the pots in the open ground, it is mulched with humus or dry leaves. Until young plants finally take root, they are periodically watered(7-8 liters of warm water under each seedling).

How and when to feed a plant

The wax gourd is a vegetable sensitive to feedings. 2-3 times per season is recommended to make the following composition:

  • 20 g of potassium sulfate,
  • 20 g of ammonium nitrate,
  • 30-40 g of ammophos (50 g of superphosphate can be replaced).
It must be diluted in 10 liters of water. One plant requires 4-5 liters of fluid.

Pinching and artificial pollination of beninkazy

Artificial pollination of beninkazes is carried out by transferring male pollen to female flowers. The most convenient way to do this is with a soft brush.

In order to accelerate the ripening of fruits in August, the central stem of the plant is pinched. Some gardeners are advised to pinch it after the appearance of several ovaries.

Wax gourd harvesting

Beningazu should be removed before the onset of the first frost, cutting pumpkin together with the stem. It should be noted that the immature fruits will not stand for a long time. They must either be consumed immediately or cleaned, cut into pieces and frozen.

Ripe fruits can be stored for at least a year.

Wax gourdA plant that does not require a lot of attention, so at the dacha its cultivation is not difficult, but diversifies your diet.

Growing pumpkins in the open field at the cottage

Among the melons and gourds, pumpkin produces outstanding fruits. Known record holder, pumpkin weighing 300 kg, obtained by a farmer in Central America. Giant fruits weighing 100 kg are not uncommon in our southern regions. Cultivation in the open ground pumpkin is an easy task, but certain conditions for obtaining a good harvest must be observed.

Pumpkin Use

Like all melons, pumpkins are thermophilic, and naturally ripen in sowing in the ground only in the south of the European part of Russia. The middle lane and the eastern regions receive a harvest only when transplanted in outdoor cultivation.

In pumpkin, everything is useful - the fruit pulp, seeds and peel. Even the inner fibrous portion is a drug. Vitamin T, which is rarely found in nature, is found in pumpkin. Pumpkin pulp is used in cooking, which makes excellent healthy meals. Pumpkin seeds go to get oil and are used to expel worms.

Happy Halloween holiday is not without dried pumpkins, of which make the images of mythical heroes.

Especially prized sweet nutmeg. It is believed that this variety is tastier than others. It is poured, creating various forms, and has a different color of the fruit. Small pumpkins are conveniently stored in winter.

Pumpkin planting and care in the open field through seedlings

There are two ways to grow thermophilic vegetables:

Pumpkin can be grown through seedlings in any locality, in some places covering it from early frosts.

Seeds must first be prepared, warm, soak in the ashes or growth stimulants. Sometimes over-dried, unprepared seeds cannot slip through. Therefore, it is better to germinate planting material in the moss, sawdust or damp cloth, and sow with the sprouted shoots.

Land for seedlings taken fertile cups large. For germination need a temperature of about 20 degrees, but you can not overdry the ground. Therefore, watering with warm settled water will be useful. The cotyledon leaves are quickly drawn out, so you should leave room for bedding, but first you need to roll up a long stem with a ringlet and sprinkle it with earth. Such a technique is called ringing seedlings. On the southern window in the warmth of the seedlings do not require illumination. Planted in the ground at steady heat. Pumpkin loves a biological fire made from plant remains, old sawdust, and mullein of winter bedding from animals to be planted under it. Soil requirements:

  • fertile light, there should not be gourds as precursors

Pumped moderately pumpkin, increase the flow of water during pouring and stop for the period of ripening. The root goes into the ground to three meters, and even in a drought pumpkin will have enough moisture.

The plant loves organic and mineral supplements. Fertilizer irrigation is done every week, alternating nitrogen and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. The lianoobrazny plant does not love the close neighborhood of other garden cultures. She throws the lash away, and in the internodes they take additional roots, feeding the plant. However, the crop needs to be adjusted. The less pumpkin is tied, the more they will be. Pumpkin pinch, like lash cucumber, not allowing it to grow. Giant fruits grow if they leave one or two ovaries.

With the onset of morning frosts, it is dangerous to leave a pumpkin without a cover in the garden. Therefore, a temporary tent is installed above it or giant berries are cut. When the pumpkin matures, its crust becomes hard, and the tail dries out. But even unripe, it comes in a warm room for several weeks. And the little pumpkins after the New Year also have yellow juicy flesh.

Sowing pumpkins and grooming care

Some early ripening varieties can be grown by sowing in the ground in central Russia. This type includes Batternat, which ripens in 100 days and Muscat, but it can be grown only by seedlings. Of the 800 varieties of pumpkins, a little more than 40 are favorite sweets. In the south, the East Dawn, the Gribovsky winter are grown, gaining up to 12% of sugars. Very sweet medium ripening are Barn, Marble, Almond.

In the southern regions, for example, in the Crimea, a large area of farmland is given to gourds with pumpkin. Plants are sown in the wells of several pieces, leaving one, the most powerful plant. The ground under the pumpkin is given loose with acid-neutral medium. Ancestors can be any crops, except melons, so as not to transmit diseases and pests to related crops.

The main requirement for this culture is warm. During the day, the temperature should be an average of 30 degrees, and at night 18. When the pumpkin is grown in the open ground, pinching is necessary. Overgrowing excess green mass takes food from the fruit. But it is equally important to carry out plant protection measures. In large cooperatives, protection measures are chosen by experts at home, it is better to use traditional methods of struggle.

In private farms, you can use modern tools that are allowed for use on your own farms. Especially annoying slugs are struggling with, scattering lime, superphosphate, conifer needles around the plant, or creating traps.

False and powdery mildew can ruin the crop in a matter of days. Therefore, spraying against anthracosis and American dew is mandatory. When the pumpkin matures, is determined by the condition of the peel. It should not be pressed by hand, and the tail should dry out. In this case, the ripening period depends on the variety and may occur in 90 or 150 days. Late varieties have time to accumulate more nutrients and sugars. Even immature, intact fruits turn yellow with time and have all the beneficial and palatable qualities.

Planting pumpkin seedlings

In May, when spring frosts are past and more or less warm weather is established, seedlings or pumpkin seedlings are planted in the ground in prepared holes. Pre watered with warm water (1

2 liters in each hole) and at night covered with boxes. In low damp places for seedlings, small mounds are made of fertile humus soil, on top of which a hole is dug.

Pumpkin varieties are planted at a distance of 70 × 70 cm, long-varied - 140 × 140 or 200 × 200 cm.

Sowing Pumpkin Seeds

Germinated pumpkin seeds are sown on the same dates as cucumber seeds. Seeds of large-fruited and hard pumpkin seeds on light soils are sown to a depth of 8

10 cm, for more connected ones - to a depth of 4

5 cm. The wells are placed at the same distance as for the seedlings.

The top layer of soil is removed up to wet, if the soil is dry, they are first poured into the depressions 1

2 liters of water. In each well, 2 seeds of large pumpkin are sown, 3-4 by durum or 4-5 by nutmeg. Seeds in the nest should be at a distance of 3

4 cm one from the other. On the ridges of the pumpkin is placed with an interval of 1.5

Caring for pumpkin plants

After planting or seeding, the aisles are loosened with a rake. After 2-3 days in dry weather, the plants are watered, sprinkling dry after each watering of the hole. When 1-2 true leaves appear, the plants are thinned out, leaving one plant in a hole in a large pumpkin, and two in a hardmeat and nutmeg plant. Finally, the plants break through when 3-4 true leaves appear.

Since the pumpkin is responsive to all types of fertilizers and makes salinization of the soil to 0.7

1%, the first dressing is carried out on the 7th-10th day after planting. Frequent feeding, for example, once a week, with mullein (1:10) or with slurry (1: 4) of 2 liters per plant promotes rapid growth of pumpkin and accelerates its fruiting. Even better results are obtained by mixing slurry or mullein with 40

50 g of mineral garden mixture in 10 liters of water. A bucket of this solution is spent on 7-10 plants.

Mineral fertilizers are used for root dressings (table), the doses of which depend on the content of nutrients in the soil and on the phase of plant development.

A bit of history

Pumpkin, like cucumbers, zucchini and squash, belongs to the pumpkin family. Scientists suggest that the pumpkin is the birthplace of America, although the bottle gourd was known in Europe and Asia BC. Made from it bottles for storing wine.

In Russia, the pumpkin appeared in the sixteenth century. The climate made it possible to grow pumpkins almost everywhere, and its yield and long-term storage ability became popular among the peasants.

Dietary and medicinal properties

Pumpkin is a good dietary product, a source of delicate fiber, pectin and potassium salts. It is filled with antioxidants and carotenoids, which in our body are converted to vitamin A.

Pumpkin has a diuretic effect, so it is useful for people who often suffer from kidney disease, bladder, swelling. The plant helps to eliminate harmful cholesterol from the body, which means it rejuvenates blood vessels and acts as a choleretic agent.

The pulp of the fruit and the juice of the pumpkin is consumed in metabolic disorders, liver diseases (about 5 kg. Of grated pulp of raw pumpkin or 1/2 tablespoon of pulp juice per day).

Pumpkin seeds are anthelmintic (2 tablespoons of raw pumpkin seeds mince and add 3 tablespoons of milk, mix thoroughly, eat in the morning on an empty stomach. After an hour, drink a strong dose of laxatives, parasites come out with feces, or make a cleansing enema.

If at night take a decoction of pumpkin with honey 1/3 cup, then you can get rid of insomnia.

Pumpkin at our cottage is one of the favorite vegetable crops. We grow it through seedlings. Seeds are selected large, heated in the sun for 4 to 7 days, then soaked in warm water until sprouting sprouts and plant in open ground for seedlings in the third decade of May. Landing close the film.

When the fourth true leaf appears, we transplant the seedlings to a permanent place. We plant in the wells, deepening them to the cotyledon leaves, close each plant with a 5-liter plastic bottle, which will create additional heat for the pumpkin and protect it from late spring frosts. We plant according to the scheme 1,2x1,2 m. Or 80x80 m. Depending on the plant variety.

Care during growth

During the growth period, we feed the pumpkin twice. The first dressing is carried out when hilling, this is approximately 8-10 days after planting. Hilling is required for the formation of adventitious roots. The second feeding is when the pumpkin stalks lie on the ground.

Good pumpkin infusion fermented herb infusion. To do this, we fill the barrel with 1/3 of the ground nettle, fill it almost to the top with water, close the lid tightly and let it infuse for a week, not forgetting to mix. For fertilizing infusion diluted 1:10.

Water the pumpkin should be about once every five days, but plentifully, one bucket under a bush.

When three fruits are formed on the plant, we pinch the main and lateral shoots, for their good development, leaving 5-7 leaves over each fruit, remove everything else: the young ovary and the extra whips.

We put a plate under each pumpkin fruit to avoid rotting and sprinkle ashes around it to scare away slugs. It is necessary to ensure that each fruit is exposed to the sun.

During the entire growth we produce weeding and loosening the soil.

White and root rot, powdery mildew, and bacteriosis are the greatest hazards to pumpkins. The main pests are spider mites and melon aphids. If there are signs of illness and pests, it is necessary to treat the pumpkin with drugs intended to combat them.

Varieties of pumpkin grown in the country

Hazelnut- beautiful orange-red pumpkins weighing 1-1.5 kg. with orange dense, starchy pulp with nut taste. Tasty in any form. The variety is early ripe, ripens in 95 days. Well kept.

Golden pear- an early ripe grade, from shoots to maturing - 95 days. The mass of a fruit is 1,5-2,0 kg., Bright orange, original drop-shaped form. The flesh is dense, tender, with a pleasant aftertaste of roasted chestnuts. It makes excellent soups, casseroles, porridges. Well kept.

Crumpet- tasty late-ripening variety, fruits weighing up to 7kg. with bright orange, juicy and incredibly sweet pulp - by December the sugar content reaches 10%. Raw, baked, fried, in the form of juice - in any form, it is very useful for almost everyone.

Cleaning and storage

Pumpkin clean in the first decade of September in dry and clear weather. By this time, the leaves on the plants lose their green color, begin to turn yellow. The maturity of the fruit is determined by the dried and firm stalk.

Pumpkin cut together with the stem. When cleaning, care must be taken not to inflict mechanical damage on them, which significantly deteriorates keeping quality.

Before putting it in storage, we leave the fruit in the sun for several days, so that the peel dries and thickens. This creates a barrier that reduces moisture loss.

Store the pumpkin in the basement at a temperature of 4-8 degrees, stalk up on the rack, place them so that they do not touch each other, checking them periodically.

"Right" seeds

In order to get a good harvest, before planting, you need to select the best pumpkin seeds and check them for germination. To do this, take the required number of seeds and germinate them. It should be said that the greater the number of seeds you take, the easier it will be to determine the germination rate. Before planting, the seeds must be soaked in manganese (1 g of potassium permanganate is taken per 100 ml of water). The procedure is carried out for 30 minutes. After all the above actions, the pumpkin seeds are well washed and allowed to dry.

How to sow seeds?

Experienced gardeners argue that the best time to plant is the beginning of May. When sowing, you must follow the rule: for 1 m accounts for 1 hole. In the wells you need to fill at the same time at least 3 seeds. This is necessary so that in case of the death of several seedlings during frosts, some of them survive and grow. Seeds can be planted at different depths, but not less than 8 cm. This is due to the fact that during shallow planting, sprouts appear on the surface of the earth along with seed and birds in search of food simply pull them out. After the appearance of seedlings, it is necessary to evaluate their development. Weak plants need to pull out. In no case can you pull out the shoots. The thing is that pumpkin roots grow very quickly, not only deep, but also wide. That is why the roots of all saplings are intertwined. Therefore, pulling out one seedling, you can break the roots of another seedling.

Growing seedlings and their further planting

In order to grow a pumpkin in this way, you must initially germinate the seeds. To do this, you need to perform a series of actions in a certain order: Take a cup and put a small piece of gauze into it, after having moistened it with water. Lay on the gauze seeds. It is best to place the dishes with seeds in a warm, but not hot place. Then you need to prepare the pots and soil for future seedlings. For these purposes, you can use plastic cups or bottles, as well as cardboard boxes. The bottles and the bottom of the bottles are necessarily cut off, after which they are cut into pieces of about 7 cm. The resulting container is placed on a pallet After 3 days, the germinated seeds are planted with a sharp end down into the ground. At the same time, the sowing depth should be at least 5 cm. After a few days, the first shoots will be visible. When the seedlings are 12 days old they must be laid in a spiral and covered with previously prepared earth. Planting of seedlings is as follows: It is best to plant a pumpkin on a sunny bed. This is due to the fact that the plant does not like shade. Before planting, seedlings must be placed in a cool place for 7 days. Thus, they will get used to low temperatures and will not die immediately after planting. When planting, you need to adhere to the scheme: 1 m between the holes and 1.5 between the rows. The depth of the hole should be at least 50 cm. Before disembarking, the recesses are shed with warm water. Planted seedlings in the same plastic container. Such a variant of landing will create protection against the bear.

When summer is cold enough, the shoots need to be cut off, leaving no more than 3 pieces. Do not strive to grow large fruits - they are almost tasteless. In the process of branching plants, it is necessary to sprinkle the internodes a little wet soil about three times. As for watering the pumpkin, here too there are some rules. You need to water the plant at the root. Pumpkin soil should always be wet. In particular, this concerns the flowering period, fruit set and the bud formation process. As soon as the flowers appear or almost all the fruits are tied, the number of waterings should be kept to a minimum.
